My favourite spurs and England player, the heart beat, unsung hero or whatever you call it.

Ultimate professional, fantastic technique and a die hard attitude, takes no prisoners - should be our captain in the World Cup, no doubts what so ever in my mind.

That’s a really interesting interview - really not the stereotypical empty headed footballer thing. Obviously I want our players to do well on the pitch but it’s really heartening to know they are living life at spurs as more rounded people - with Dier into photography and architecture and discussing wider issues than the football bubble in the dressing room. There was a bit in Poch’s book about Dele learning Spanish too (don’t start a transfer panic lol).

But there are so many stories about players elsewhere just being into fame and clubbing and so on - and then becoming lost when they leave the game, the pressure on their mental health while they are playing and after (think of Aaron Lennon) or crashing completely into alcoholism.

That interview makes me proud of our club and our players and really good to have Eric opening a window on it like that instead of just coming out with platitudes.

Ps thanks to those who posted the full text :)

One of my favourite Spurs players, just epitomises what we are all about in terms of change in mentality...i feel he is underappreciated by the fans in the same sort of way Carrick was.

I love Eric Dier, frustrates me a lot at how come fans don't get him.

Ironically, it was similar with Carrick. WHile he was with us, was vastly underrated. Once he'd left people really missed him.

Agree on Dier but not on Carrick. After the 05/06 season he was loved and no one wanted him to go.

I wonder if there are any Brexiteers in the squad. I can’t imagine any. Maybe Trippier and/or Kane’s family. Essex and Burnley innit.

Perhaps Rose as well because he seems angry at having to google [foreign] players we sign.

Maybe, I definitely remember him being more fondly thought of on here after he'd left than when he was here though. He was my favourite player for us in his last season. Still wish he'd scored that goal away at Highbury when he dribbled around everyone.

I think it was more the season before where people were on the fence. His second season he was amazing.

What do you think some fans don’t get?

Some people see the odd slack pass in the middle and write off anything else he will ever do.

It seems to me, and evidently to Poche, that he's one of the key pieces in this team. His attitude is spot on, and whether he's in central midfield or central defence he's a quality player.

He's very assured in central midfield, offers a tactical flexibility that others don't, is a better passer than is given credit for and reads the game pretty well.

It's not that some people don't get that, it's just the they don't agree with all of it.

It was behind a pay wall, so I didn't, and posting the copyrighted images is not OK, so I would delete those sharpish.

If an article is not behind a paywall is it OK to post, only articles are posted all the time from newspapers ?
