Yes, you're right! I forgot about the 5-1 hammering we took from Chelsea, so bad I erased it from my memory. I also couldn't remember the 0-1 loss to Arsenal but that's probably because I was still young and remembered the joy the year before. The Everton was the first one I really recall and that was humiliating.

Arsenal 92-93 - Lost 0-1
Everton 94/95 - Lost 1-4
Newcastle 98/99 - Lost 0-2 AET
Arsenal 00/01 - Lost 1-2
Portsmouth 09/10 - Lost 0-2 AET
Chelsea 11/12 - Lost 1-5
Chelsea 16/17 - Lost 2-4

Some absolute pathetic results and performances over the years. Let's hope these boys can erase all of that for us.

Christ - I really can't decide which of those was worst. Some of my very worst memories as a fan there.

  1. Our decline was well and truly in motion by this point,
  2. This was tragic, we should’ve won the cup that year and the manner in which we lost still hurts. I’m yet to forgive Stuart Nethercott.
  3. We were mid table, they were one of the best teams in the country. Still, we were denied a certain penalty in the last minute of normal time when Dabizas fouled, right in front of me that was.
  4. I genuinely believed we’d do it at 1-0. Campbell went off crocked and that was that.
  5. This was disgusting, but also I think gave the team the fire to go beat Chelsea and Arsenal in the next week before finishing 4th for the first time.
  6. This was a terrible day to support Spurs.
  7. As so often v Chelsea, we were the better side but let ourselves down in key moments. Ultimately lost to two rockets and I still don’t understand Son at left back over Davies.
To be fair, I don’t think Son or Davies understood that decision either!!!

The Everton game was really hard to take. Our name was on the cup. Klinsmann was meant to lift it. We won at Anfield in the previous round IIRC.

Pompey...FFS - Spursy

Chelsea 5-1 - words cant describe :(

Yea him, ahh it was 2 never mind. I just remember them being in the last 10mins or something. Awful day!

I remember Everton had three sides of the ground and were behind both goals, we had the main stand, talk about advantage Everton!!!

If we were behind both goals and had the main stand it sounds like we had three sides of the ground?

Portsmouth for me, I was so fucking confident we’d beat them

This, plus the fact we would have played fucking Cardiff in the final.

No disrespect to Cardiff, but losing that semi was pretty much losing the final.

No, it would have been Chelsea that year - 2010. Portsmouth v Cardiff was 2008.

Agree that we should have beat Portsmouth though.
