If Toby returns from international duty, fully fit and 100 percent commited I`d start him against Chelsea and in every other subsequent game for the last part of the season. Whether he signs a new contract or not should have no bearing on that decision.

Toby is in his prime, better than Sanchez (who, while talented is still very young and quite raw) and would greatly improve our chances of finishing in the top 4 and winning the FA Cup.

Should we pay him what he wants? I think we should, but even if Levy refuses, it would be a massive waste of talent to have him on the bench or in the stands. Securing a CL place and winning the FA Cup would be massive, especially as it relates to keeping our other key players. Toby, whether he stays or goes could be key to us achieving those crucial goals.

Is that the form that Toby has showed since returning from injury you are referring too? Or the form he showed on his debut for Spurs when he gave away that ridiculous penalty or his form the last game of that season when we got hammered by Newcastle? Don’t get me wrong, I loved Toby and there was a period when I thought he was maybe the best centre back in the league and certainly part of the best centre back partnership. But that was 12 months ago. The game moves on.

How much better Sanchez is than Toby at the same age really does matter, because it means he may have a higher ceiling. Another pre season and 6 months playing under Poch he may alraeady be better than Toby. Especially a Toby who isn’t fully committed to the club and who may never be the same player after a serious hamstring injury.

Come on mate. We all know deep down selling world class CB to a rival is not how you progress and win things

Sanchez is great but makes mistakes and is no where near as good on the ball

And Toby allows us to field a world class back 3. Most of us would rather we didn’t have to chose between Sanchez or Toby and kept them both!

Harsh talking about his form since injury given he has played 1-2 games

How awful. Thank goodness Mr. Levy would never, ever go back on his words after shaking hands on an agreement!

Haha

The Lyon president on Levy “We had people speaking all night with Daniel Levy,” said Aulas. “He talks a lot and goes back on what we’ve agreed in writing. Agreements have not at all been respected”

If anything a business man like Levy should respect Toby’s agent!

I just wish we could know what the deal really is. If he is asking for ridiculous money then he should go but we just dont know

you don't shake hands with Poch and then shift the goalposts....and expect to get away with it

I think there has been enough information leaked in various ways to find a pretty clear throughline:
We broadly agreed a contract that would have put him near enough equal with top PL earners but not break our structure. Deal wasn't finalized and then the VVD deal happened which upped what his people view as his value and we disagree.

That's why we just have to trust that the people in the club are doing the best for the club.

FWIW, i really think he will stay (no idea why, just a hunch)

His agent is still insisting on release clauses and we won't budge.

Should clarify, that's what has been posted by ITKs a bunch of times.

Wonder if we’ll get some news from that reliable Belgian Journo this week whilst he’s away with the national team.

He already wrote one though it's not in English and basically says we have walked away from negotiations. It's his sort of typical happy clapper Belgium players, boo evil teams not respecting them, tone (see anything he writes about Fellani) but yeah, it's there:

I'd keep him to his contract for the next 2 years and let him leave for free.
In 2 years I think Sanchez will be a much better defender and hopefully young Foyth will be getting a lot more game time.
Flog him now and we need to replace him and that won't be cheap.
His presence for the next 2 years could earn the club 50 million in placing and cup runs.
