it's clubs like Liverpool, paying over the odds on players that is killing football for the rest of us. Toby is a great defender but the time has come when we sell, we don't have the endorsement income that others have.

If Toby returns from international duty, fully fit and 100 percent commited I`d start him against Chelsea and in every other subsequent game for the last part of the season. Whether he signs a new contract or not should have no bearing on that decision.

Toby is in his prime, better than Sanchez (who, while talented is still very young and quite raw) and would greatly improve our chances of finishing in the top 4 and winning the FA Cup.

Should we pay him what he wants? I think we should, but even if Levy refuses, it would be a massive waste of talent to have him on the bench or in the stands. Securing a CL place and winning the FA Cup would be massive, especially as it relates to keeping our other key players. Toby, whether he stays or goes could be key to us achieving those crucial goals.

Just out of interest, how would you go about voicing that decision to Sanchez (if you were Poch)?

If you don't wanna sign for Tottenham or be here you simply don't play for us, that's how in see it, first Walker now Toby. Have to say it's refreshing to see and fair play to Poch. Ship him off and hopefully his career returns to the Athletico days. Chicken badge first every single time.

Agree.

If we get several good years out of a player then sell for a big profit once he is coming to the end of his career then we'll have a pretty good thing going.

No need to hate the player either. If he wants one last huge contract before retiring then that is his decision.

Hate the players who don't strive to be the best not the ones who play exceptionally well for us.

Lots of clubs are massively over paying.

While we might not like it the club have to deal with it. I'd say they are doing a good job.

We have a ready-made replacement in Sanchez and Dier and Foyth can also slot in there.

If we sell this summer we'll get a great fee to reinvest in a new player.

If they expect the supporters to be paying the most to see us play then they have no excuse not to be signing the best players in the world and keeping our best

Totally agree it has to be out model, I think we can get some players who will not care about money, Kane, Hugo, hopefully Christian. As for the rest develop them, let them improve us and when they want to leave, do it in a way that respects our club. I don't hate Toby at all, but as soon as he leaves I won't be that caring how how his career goes, barring injury of course.

I don't get that theory, they will price the tickets so that they sell, if they don't the price will drop. Supply and demand. We simply can't draw the best players in the world, even if we did offer massive wages.

Meh see ya.

Great player but Jan has surpassed him over the last year or so. Use the funds by selling him to bring in a top drawer CM to play alongside Dembele, and push Dier to CB.

The more success we have the highher our wage budget will be.

10 years we wouldn't have been able to keep half the players we have at the moment.

Every now and again there'll be a player getting wage offers we can't compete with but in general we are dealing well with this.

"Toby Alderweireld is completely fit after a difficult rehabilitation," Martinez told Belgian publication DH. "As far as I’m concerned, he is ready to play.”

We can't financially compete with the doped clubs. Most have the intelligence to see that.

I agree but we all know that's not how Poch does things.

The moment you step away from being committed to him and the cause, you're done. He doesn't say it in public, but his selections speak volumes.

Have to stand behind Poch no matter what, he's the single most important person at the club after Levy. Players come and go.
If he wants out and is likely to go this summer why give him the game time when Sanchez is doing well and clearly learning a lot each game. Makes no sense to me

Because he’s still a better player than Sanchez, has a better partnership with Verts, and because we are more likely to get better results with him in the team.

I’m not really bothered though I don’t think it would make that much of a difference.
