Also been a huge amount of rubbish too. It’s a minefield of a league to find the right players
In general maybe, but of late we have an excellent record of players signed from that league, or who cut their teeth in that league. Eriksen, Sanchez, Vertonghen obviously, and then Toby and Dembele who we didn't sign from there, but who cut their teeth there. Chadli was also a decent signing . The only real failure we've had from there is Janssen for a number of years now.

Assuming 2 outgoings, I would be happy with same number (and hopefully same quality and/or potential) in plus one cm. Ideally, a player with the combined attributes of Pirlo and Kante. Shouldn't be too difficult to find....

Still amazes me that pro clubs go out and buy half a dozen or more in one window and then wonder why it all goes shit shaped. See us, Liverpool, and Everton. Same lesson each time. No learning whatsoever. Anyone remember Santini's first game against Liverpool in 2004? Think we had 8 or 9 on debut. Different times.
Well there will be more than two outs when you consider Janssen, Llorente, N’Koudou all are stood at the exit door. Alderweireld and Rose both clearly want out and are being used like they do. We also have Sisokko and Trippier who may want out (due to play time).

Frenkie De Jong would be ideal for us - i have a soft spot for Ajax (and amsterdam, what a lovely city), everytime i see De Jong i think how he would be a perfect fit for us.

Other than that - a lot of rumours in germany which state that Jan-Fiete Arp (Hamburg) is close to Bayern. He refused their first offer , mainly because Hamburg is under real regelgation threat and he would find it disrespectful to sign for another club while his club is still fighting against relegation (would be the first relegation for Hamburg since the start of Bundesliga)
But a lot of german journalists and people around HSV are certain that he will go to Bayern - also stating that Bayern wont want to let another top german attacking talent go elsewhere after Timo Werner...

Still hope Arp could come over, he could be the next big thing and a like for like Kane back up. Of course he needs time on the pitch and i'm not sure how to convince him he would get that behind Kane... Bayern will most likely lose Lewandowski this summer so there would be room for him there

Fuck that shit, bring me the next Afonso Alves, goddamnit.

Yes, bring me the heading of Levi Garcia*

* Little known but plying his trade in the eredevisie as a speedy left winger, and only available option to make this gag work.

True, but do we need to buy anyone to cover them? Son pretty much does the job of Janssen and Llorente already. N'koudou has never been close to the first team. KWP for Trippier? That just leaves Sissoko. The Pirlo/Kante signing will cover that off. Maybe another attacking player on top then, to give extra depth and options?
Ps. Was referring to Alderweireld and Rose in original post.

The thing is - if Bayern let Lewandowski go to Real they suddenly become a lot more enticing to a youngster like Arp, who sees a potential pathway to the first team. And obviously, the first move happening is brilliant for us, because it quietens down the Kane rumours.

If they lose Lewandowski they will surely go and buy a top drawer replacement in his prime. Arp would still be in the same position in the pecking order

Yeah, but it's going to be hard for them to find someone as impeccable as Lewa, or Kane if he was to come here. Hence the door may be more ajar...

Any signings must improve the starting X1, we don't need bench warmers.
Football is a squad game. We need to ensure the players we lose vs the players we bring in leave us in a better overall position. That doesn’t necessarily mean adding new players to an already strong starting XI it’s about adding players that make us better over the course of a season

Not sure it’s that simple. It’s hard to pin point strengthening 1st xi. But what we can do is add variety. Won’t happen but a Leon bailey type. Powerhouse AM/winger, not better than dele eriksen Son Just different. Same maybe CM, doubt will find much better than dembele, but say a de Jong could slot in without loss of performance. We really shouldn’t have bench warmers but 18-20 players that can easily interchange. I’d say now we have 16 outfield players we can mix and match comfortably.

I always wonder why we don't look at South America for attackers. I understand getting work permits can be a bitch, but going to the source rather then chasing the Malcon's or Richarlison's for three times their original price would surely make more sense. Lautaro Martinez would probably get a WP pretty easily if he has made the international squad. From the few youtube vids I have seen he looks very similar to Aguero, maybe a better dribbler, or maybe a more bullish Dybala? But YouTube is the devil's plaything when it comes to football so im not going to judge him off that.

It's not that easy to scout young south american players for the PL. The style of play is quite different. For example the league in Argentina is tough, you don't get too much time with the ball, but the pace is slower. So when they move to Spain or Italy they find themselves in a league with similar pace, but with more liberties with the ball. Players and not constantly pressing in Spain. The adjustment for the PL is harder.

Right now, other than Lautaro Martinez, there are not many top young players.
These are the best that I can think of (only young players), but I really don't know which ones would make it. It depends how they progress.
Pavon (Boca - Winger) 22yrs
Palacios (River - CM) 19yrs
Bustos (Independiente - RB who has just been called for the national team) 21yrs
Martinez Quarta (River - CB) 21yrs
Saracchi (River - LB) 19yrs
Caseres (Velez - DM) 21yrs

Those are the only young players I would keep an eye on.
We already got one of the top prospects in Foyth to be honest
