What I don't understand is. .. There's gonna be tracks in the nfl pitch for the real pitch to slide out on, how are they hidden in the nfl turf?
No reason for the track to be connected to the ground. Can just lay on top and be removed after.

I was pondering this myself yesterday. The videos that were released for the retracting pitch just said 'hidden rails' under the NFL pitch which simply does not make any sense at all.

Looking at the North Stand camera, that roof looks at full height to me...

I'd say with the weight of the trays on any track laid on the turf it would destroy the turf, the track is already being laid on to the concrete. Maybe, cause NFL is pony, they don't care about having an ankle breaking tracking running up and down their field?

If you look closely there is still some space between the end of the wires and the flying steelwork, I'd guess this last small part will be done either by hand jack or very slowly. Looks like they're chopping off the ends of the strands that have been pulled through the jacks.

I'm thinking very much outside the box here and don't regard this as particularly likely. But Brazil are obviously using our training ground and accomodation for their World Cup warm-ups. They also happen to have a friendly against Croatia on the 3rd of June, to be played at an as-yet unconfirmed venue in the UK. Is there any chance we're hoping for the basics of the stadium to be ready in time for it to host that match as one of the reduced-capacity test events? It seems too early but with the good progress so far, the reports the internal fit-out is largely done in many areas, the Brazil tie in and the oddity of no confirmed venue this close to the game it did get me wondering.

The glass and natural light will be great. Hope they don’t build a massive hotel that blocks it out.
Haha, to be fair the area directly behind the stand is quite open with the public square as they can't build anything on top of the pitch cavern as there's not enough support.

Inclined to agree, but I wouldn't be certain. Obviously the target was to have it ready for mid-August, with us asking to start with away games as a precaution. That would probably involve it being ready in early-ish July for enough test events etc to take place to get the safety certificate (and resolve any problems). So we'd only really be talking 4-5 weeks before then for this to happen. And if it's reduced capacity (which it has to be for the first test event) we wouldn't need the south stand or any of the internal fittings for it to be ready.

Currently a meeting going on about the London Stadium with LLDC:

https://www.london.gov.uk/budget-monitoring-sub-committee-2018-03-21

We have come up a few times, when discussing West Ham’s potential naming rights deal Neale Coleman said he understands Tottenham are having some problems securing a naming rights deal.
I suspect Neale Coleman has no more information on the subject than the rest of us do, however it seems to me he is using us and our Daniel as the gold standard in this matter, "it's too hard for us but I've heard even Spurs are having some problems".

He's probably just deflecting attention until it's announced that the new sponsor of the White Elephant Arena will be... London. The Legacy Committee will be so dead set on avoiding that stadium becoming the venue of choice for car boot sales and low-budget comic-cons that they'll pressure the government or local council to help (ignoring all the help, concessions and continued funding of vast parts of the stadium that has and is currently being provided) and end up "finding" a couple of million to throw at it, on top of the spending that's going on currently.

No-one in their right business mind will want to sponsor that stadium unless they get a monster-mint cheap deal. If West Ham go down then this might become a possibility, lest it end up the Cilit Bang arena.

Actually, if I was Levy/Lewis, i'd be tempted to put in a bid to sponsor the name of the stadium and call it the THFC Fixer-Upper Arena.

To give you an idea, when my company tendered for the roofing package, we were looking at a 20 week double shift programme!

There is no way brazil will be the first game at the new stadium. Spurs will kick it all off.

I'm near-certain it won't be a competitive, Spurs first-team game. It could be a Spurs friendly if we're done in time for that. But given it will be at a reduced capacity with free admission (both requirements for test events as far as I know), I expect it not to be the Spurs first team at all. Most likely a youth side, some veteran/celebrity game or the like.

I haven't read anything more about this (other than what's on the website), but I'd suggest that it's more likely that Spurs are wanting a slice of the Tottenahm craft beer scene and will run its own microbrewery on site. That said, I'd be surprised if there weren't future collaborations with Beavertown, Redemption etc.

In June/July of last year Spurs were talking to Molson Coors about this, but I don't know how negotiations ended.

Maybe they'll lay a flat base on the nfl pitch temporarily and then lay the tracks on that thereby spreading the load and leaving the nfl pitch completely undamaged, that's what I'd do.

Haven't they said it'll take like 20 mins or something to move the pitch in or out? Bloody quick work if they have to lay anything temporarily!

In terms of the two most recent major football stadium openings in Britain, Wembley had:

1) An event for local residents to test the escalators, toilets and concourse facilities, with a couple of local teams playing mini-games on the pitch.
2) A charity game between the Geoff Thomas Foundation Charity XI and the Wembley Sponsors Allstars
3) An U21 friendly between England and Italy

With the capacity restricted to 60k, 2/3rds of full capacity, for all of these.

The Emirates had:

1) An open day for shareholders and selected corporates to see and test the facilities
2) An open training session (capacity 20k)
3) A testimonial for Dennis Bergkamp (capacity 54k)

We can expect something similar to this to happen over the summer before the first competitive games there in September. I quite like the idea our first game being "for realsies" but it isn't particularly likely.
