Thankfully rain is expected for most of today and tomorrow, the odd heavy shower on Sunday. If NZ throw the bat at the ball between the showers they could get a quick 200 run lead. Probably be more than enough.

I'm firmly in the Bayliss out camp. Our Test side is a joke, and you cant tell me that we're wanging the ball harder and faster around the 50 over scene because of anything that **** has done.

Fuck him. Aussie prick. :cautious:

What I couldn't understand in the England innings was why were so many of them staying back in the crease. Do they realise they aren't in Australia anymore?

I would say heads have to roll when the team gets back as these two tours have been shambolic across the board but it wouldn't change anything. If the ECB truly cared about Test cricket then they'd do more to help county cricket instead they're chasing the T/20 cash.

So, if Bancroft has been using sandpaper, and Lehman knew about it, does that mean they award an extra 300 runs to England?

That's him hiding it once someone had spotted it

There's another video where you can see him grinding the ball in his hand

So blatant, and clearly he's not doing this without the knowledge of coach / skipper

Australia's Cameron Bancroft had admitted he tampered with the ball during the third Test against South Africa - and captain Steve Smith says he knew of the plan in advance.

Television footage showed Bancroft take a yellow object out of his trouser pocket before rubbing the ball.

Smith said the team's "leadership group" had spoken about it and "thought it was a way to get an advantage".

He acknowledged it was a "big mistake" but said he would not stand down

I don't see how he can carry on TBH, it's not the first time is it? Didn't he get done for communicating with the balcony to decide wether to review or not? I don't think it's a case of him standing down, it should be taken out of his hands....... he needs sacking if Australian cricket is going to retain any credibility.

Smith
Warner
Lehmann

That sounds like the 'leadership group' to me.

Lehmann and Smith should fall on their swords. Once the cameras spotted him roughing the ball Lehmann can be seen on the walkie to the the 12th man. The 12th man then goes out to talk to Bancroft. And then the video of him putting the sandpaper into his boxers. And finally the umps who were obviously made aware then talk to Bancroft and he empties his pockets to show there's nothing there.

Oof. This is just not cricket, is it

The South Africans are historically not blameless, their captain Hanse Cronje was nabbed in the 00’s iirc (match fixing for betting syndicates not ball tampering) & perhaps Jonty Rhodes too around the same time there was smoke but no fire found

Was just about to post the same thing. Smith should be forced to stand down as captain ( not his first attempt at cheating either) and the coach too, no way he is not in on this imo

Well he's said he's not going to stand down but the Sydney Herald reckon he'll do well to survive this.

They went on to say: Cricket Australia chairman David Peever is on his way back from Cape Town after taking in some of the match. There will be hell to pay when he touches down.

This could run and run. I just can't see a way Smith survives this, their image has taken quite a few knocks since he's been in charge and it could take quite some time for the Australian team to get over this unless heads roll. I can't imagine how they'll put this behind them otherwise.

The SH suggests the 'leadership group' of players could be

Smith
Warner
Lyon
Starc
Hazlewood

Nearly half the team and they put the youngster up to do the dirty work. Stay classy Australia (y)
