We're largely going on how his last two years at Madrid have unfolded, what with injuries, form and his topknot. If he still has anything like the player that left us in him, having him back is a world class no-brainer. The trouble IMO is, we won't know that until he arrives and has a good few months under his belt under Pochettino and our fitness gurus.

What it means for the squad/balance of the team I'll leave to Pochettino to sort out, I think we can trust him to do that IF he actually wants him and IF he actually comes.

So, a gamble, but one completely worth taking IMO and if I had to choose I'd say go for it. But at the same time I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if we didn't sign him as long as he doesn't go to United, Chelsea, Liverpool or the scum :cautious:. On reflection, fuck it, I want him.

But he MUST get rid of that silly hairdo :D

Imagine having Bale in our arsenary he is a match winner. If we are in a position to get Bale we should , I wouldn’t like to see him at another premiere league team after Spurs.

As for Sess we should also try to get him, if Danny Rose wants out. Rose hasn’t looked himself hopeful if refocused and a pre season under he’s belt Rose is still a very good player which we wouldn’t need to folk big money on Sess... instead use that money to find an understudy for Vertonghen or possibly Dembele. For the record imo Lamela can cover Eriksen

lol @ all the Football Manager fans not wanting players over the age of 24.

Or the fact that this has been our transfer policy for the last 10 years? To sign Bale would break so many of our self imposed rules that have gotten us to the point we are at now, huge money, huge wages and huge risk for a player who looks by all accounts to be crocked and not the player he was.

Don't get me wrong, nobody would be happier to see him in a Spurs shirt again, i'd be thrilled if we brought him back. But if you weigh up the risks vs the risks of other options (like a ludicrously talented 17 year old who may end up being more Routledge than Bale) i cant see it being the right call, but i would love to be wrong as per usual.

Plus Sessignon is rubbish on my Football Manager game, the little shitbag.

He never will. He has it because he is balding at the back of his head so wants to cover it up.

I love the idea of Bale returning, but no amount of rotation could keep him and the current set of attackers happy (excluding Kane and Eriksen who are nailed on first team every game). Yes, he’s better than all of them, but he’s 29 this summer and has missed a lot of football through injury.

We could do a City and play a midfield 3 which contains 2 tens, but that would be an (admittedly exciting) huge change in approach.

Dier
Dele Eriksen
Bale __________ Son
Kane

Llorente
Moura _________ Lamela
Dembele Winks
Wanyama
I yearn for Dele to become a Lampard/Gerrard/Jenas hybrid and Eriksen plays wherever he needs to in order to run the game, so I like your style.

I don't think affording Bale would be an issue. The commercial aspect of having Bale and Kane would be enormous. The revenues they could generate for the club would put us on another level.

Whether he'd make a difference to the team success is debatable. But financially it would be a winner for club and a no brainer

Im happy your happy for him.... But read carefully what i posted . I have no problem with players leaving for whatever reasons and Bale has been a success at Real.
My own problem is not to bring players back who are no longer wanted and are on the way down injury prone and on silly money
I would.. If possible. Invest in the likes of Pulisic from Dortmund or Sessegnon excuse the spelling..
Young Hungary players , don't think Bale would be value for money

The days of young players, like Puskas, from Hungary is long gone.:)

People don’t want to sign him because of his injuries. I’d like to see the percentage of matches he has missed compared to Lamela and Dembele since they have joined us. Both those players have had terrible injury records too.

Personally I think it would be amazing if he came back for a multitude of reasons. Can I see it happening, I’m not convinced it will.

Yeah but Dembele and Lamela are already here. Had we been looking to sign either now considering their respective injury records, most would be against it, and rightly so.

That aside, my biggest issue is that our priorities for spending big should lie in other positions. CM is the main spot we should be looking at bringing in a top class player.

Bale is a legend for us, but I'd much rather Modric back than Bale, because we need a player with those qualities far more than we need one with Bales.

Really? He’d cost what - 80m or so? Assuming he stays for three or four years, he’d have little sell on value. Let’s say 20m if we’re being super generous

And let’s say 10m a year in wages over those three years.

So he’s have to bring in an incremental 90m over the time frame he’s here for a business that currently generates revenue of just over 300m.

Sorry - but I don’t see it.

If your revenue base is already very high eg Madrid, and you get Beckham, then I can see it could make sense. But I just doubt it would sell that many shirts/attract that many more sponsors etc.

In fact, I reckon Son is probably just as effective a marketing tool for us because it opens up new markets

I'd dare say Son has actually been better for us than Bale over the last two seasons. 30 goals in 90 apps, compared to Bale's 40 odd in 150... And he does the work off the ball that Bale doesn't.

At 28, I'd just leave it all in the past, remember those 3 amazing seasons he had with us, and move on.

don't agree on Modric.
For the CM2 we have a combination of Dembele and Wanyama or Dier....where would Modders fit?
Eriksen dropping deeper, Alli and a fit Winks for 4/5/6 choices (in no particular order)

Off topic slightly, but you know what, I reckon a cm pairing of Dier and Alli, with Eriksen, Lamela and Son ahead of them would be mustard.

he might be in good form atm but it's evident he can't play every game I'm a big fan of Dembele but I think we need to use him sparingly from now on. CM would be the first position I'd be looking to strengthen, and a player with Modric's skillset feeding the runs and movement of our front four would take us to another level imo. It might also stop Dier trying to play like Pirlo which he clearly can't.
