I watched that footy last night and thought I must have watched a different game to the 1 the commentators and panel watched

For me the Dutch were absolutely horrendous, like watching Everton under Koeman

1 goal in 3 games does not fill me with any optimism nor does our 'manager' who should never ever have been given the job in the first place

If we get out of the group I’ll be pleasantly surprised

We'll get out of the group, but struggle to do so. Can see it by winning one and drawing two. And then out in the next round.

Nice to see the English “fans” ( and I use that term very loosely ) once again enhancing our reputation abroad by behaving like classless fucking brain dead drunken morons.

I know other nations and cultures have their own share of scumbags, but we really do have a special breed of ***** in this country.

Bit harsh. One goal in last 3 games...against Germany, Brazil and Holland. Didn’t lose any of them either and without their best forward/player for any of them too!

I’m no fan of Southgate but he’s actually doing ok

Every nation has divs. Holland in Amsterdam on a Friday night was always going to attract the special case of div!

Football hooligans are divs the world over. You get a lot of people desperate to throw all England fans under one banner though. I’ve been away with England and the treatment from the locals can be laughable. Get pissed on, herded like cattle then slagged off by your own press and people back home who jump to conclusions and who suddenly become completely ignorant.
All because years ago England had more hooligans than most.

I like him too. He’s on a hiding to nothing as this is one of the worst crops of English players for a long time.

Fair enough. I’m under no illusion that we are treated differently by foreign police based on past hooligans behaviour...... and I’ve seen the way some Russians behave in hotels etc :D.

Still think we have more divs than most.

Yeah we do to be fair mate!

I get the feeling the trouble in France might have reignited it a bit. A new breed of div perhaps?

Guess what? Wilshere is going to miss the next game due to injury as well.

Gomez has also had to withdraw after his injury in the last game.

Very embarrassing from some of the England fans. After our government criticizing Russia non stop about potential hooliganism, our fans do this. Throwing beer on pensioners/families enjoying the beautiful city and destroying the place. Our fans will be more of a target if they werent already. It's going to be a shit show for some of the genuine England fans who want a good drink and watch a good game of footy

I have a feeling Levy May have just timed this stadium build to perfection. Honestly believe the 20s is going to be England’s decade. Italia 90 was really the rebirth of football in this country and we only got to semi final lol. I can’t even begin to imagine where football could go to in this country if we actually had a successful national team. And the core of any team is likely to be spurs. I think a successful England will be very beneficial for us as a club in lots of ways.

To be honest in about 5 years you could be right, we have some fantastic young players knocking about.

Now however we will probably be taking people like Henderson, Livermore and wilshire to the world cup. That's just depressing.

Imo more of our youngsters need to go abroad before we will have a chance.

I like what Southgate has been doing thus far. There's been some experimenting going on, but he seems to have decided what he wants.

The 3-4-2-1 shape he used against Netherlands does fit the squad pretty well. Quite a few CBs that are comfortable on the ball, good options as wing backs, attacking midfielders like Lingard, Alli, Sterling with Kane up top.
And with the CMs basically tasked with blocking space, winning the ball and keeping the ball ticking, then Dier, Henderson and Drinkwater are actually pretty decent options. An in form Winks would probably be the perfect partner to all of those, but for now, I'm actually pretty interested in seeing what Cook can do.

I just hope Southgate keeps doing sensible stuff. Hodgson had some good ideas as well, and then ended up shoehorning Rooney into a team that was supposed to press.
