Bristol Rugby are renaming ourselves "Bristol Bears", presumably after our mascot Brizzley Bear.

Let's hope Levy doesn't get the same idea.....

Really feel for the guy as I suffered a very similar injury playing rugby at school. 15 years later and I still get arm/shoulder/neck/back niggles and pains even now. It's a horrible one.

I haven't watched much of racing or munster this season (I saw them beat the tigers I think). Any one have a quick preview of what to look out for?

Get in. North signs for Ospreys.

Brad Shields wants to go on tour to SA but The Hurricanes won’t release him as of yet.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this Shields guy this season. He didn’t play in the Hurricanes last game but I saw him in the 2-3 previous.

3 main things you immediately notice about his game are:

1 Great communicator/organiser (not surprising seeing as he’s their captain but still something England lack in the back row, perhaps.)

2 extremely solid in the tackle (don’t think I saw him miss many tackles in the 3 games I’ve seen him play.

3. Great engine

I guess weaknesses would be he’s a bit one paced (but he is a 6 so this a bit harsh) didn’t do much at the breakdown (but again he is a 6 but you’d still expect to see a tad more work there)

Skill levels are genuinely very high though and for a guy who’ll soon be making the jump up to international rugby that’ll stand him in good stead, obviously.

Interesting stuff. I have to admit I've never watched him. England are crying out for top quality back rows.

There is a young flanker at wasps jack willis who I have very high hopes for (can compete at the breakdown and carries/tackles hard). Hopefully he can learn from shields.

You probably saw him in that lions game but I can barely remember last week so if you’re anything like me that game will be a blur.

Yeah it’s a weird one as he hasn’t played any internationals yet but he’ll bring all that SH know how and like I say he’s a leader so I’m sure there will be a few players who can learn a lot from him, and vice versa

The Canes playing the Sunwolves at the mo. Shields started if anyone is interested. I had it on record, though.

A try for Shields right at the end. Just before the try I was thinking he doesn’t offer to much in the way of ball carrying but that’s more to do with, from what I’ve seen, that he quite likes hanging out in those wide channels when in possession. Decent support play and solid enough finish. The 10th try of his career apparently.

The leicester vs newcastle match this evening is shaping up to be pretty important for this season. Might be worth watching if you don't normally.

I'll have a word with MrsToo!

Edit: Well that was quick. She had two words for me!
