Their squad really is a shambles. 24 listed on transfermrkt. When you take out loans retiring kids(never played) leaves 17 senior players. Of which 7 are 30+. That’s not even taking into account long term sick notes like Reid and Carroll. Honestly Moyes did very well to keep them up. Can’t wait to see how they look after the summer ?

Yes this is very true.
I really wanted them to go down, but Moyles managed to get them clear with an aging weak squad. He did well and so what do they do? Sack him of course.
Next season I have high hopes they go down- but then this is one of the things I want every year

And they are releasing their stalwart ginger Pele.

Another gem from KUMB;

If Pellegrini takes leave of his senses and actually agrees to work for this mob, you can bet on Sullivan trumpeting a thirty five year old Toure as a world class signing.

Moyes kept them up because West Brom went a zillion games without winning under Pardew, Stoke did the same under Hughes and Lambert, then Swansea did the same, 34 points kept you up this season, that would be virtually impossible not to get with any squad

Those are remarkable figures. Has the cut off ever been so low before ?

They didn't really sack him though. He told them that he didn't want to renew his contract....

The club are hoping to make an appointment by the end of next week after Moyes told David Sullivan, West Ham’s co-owner, he was no longer interested in extending his stay at the London Stadium. The pair had been expected to meet next week but it is understood Moyes has decided to seek new opportunities after growing tired with his treatment.

Moyes’s task was to pull West Ham out of the bottom three after replacing Bilic in November and he succeeded in difficult circumstances, finishing 13th. He inherited an unfit, unbalanced squad, received minimal backing in the January transfer window, saw Tony Henry leave as the club’s head of recruitment in January and watched as supporters mounted furious protests against the board during the 3-0 home defeat to Burnley in March.

Moyes managed to steady the ship and that calmness under pressure earned him the respect of one of West Ham’s owners, with David Gold backing him. Yet his relationship with David Sullivan was more fragile and both parties started to have misgivings during the season’s final weeks.

Moyes, who wanted greater control over transfers, adopted an increasingly bullish tone. He criticised West Ham’s culture of leaks, following his row with Andy Carroll earlier this month, challenged his employers to match his ambition and said the club had to make improvements off the pitch in order to become stronger on it. Yet he did not feel he had Sullivan’s trust.

He felt he could provide West Ham with stability and turn them into a top-eight club with the right backing.

Im glad Moyes has left them. He could have turned them into an Everton when he was there e.g. top 8 team. With him gone Im hoping the new guy takes them where they belong in to the championship.

I'm really hoping they've cocked this up completely and they'll unveil that Pellegrino bloke who was rubbish at Southampton. And then pay him £10m a year.

Hmmmmmmm Pellegrini could be a good manager for them.

However they really do need a clean out of some players, Andy Carroll being the first unless by some miracle he can be persuaded somehow to live like a professional footballer, which might stop him being constantly injured.

A LOT of dead wood in that squad and they’re fucking up their accademy, which was once one of their few redeeming points...

If they are truly paying that sort of money just to lure a manager, god knows what they will pay new players. Got Leeds written all over it if they go this route, they don't even have the moderate success to draw players in.

Bringing in the experienced players is fine if you have a mix but when you are becoming the final big pay day destination for players on decline, well they will never ever build towards anything. They may manage to keep themselves in the EPL but it means going no where long term and if they get it wrong one year, well its a one way ticket to destination fucked.
