Not a fan , don't disagree it has a good visual look but too European/USA . I love that we don't play music after a goal and have no huge flag wavers ..need to keep the atmosphere that we as fans build rather then rely on this ..but then again I am old school and still love to ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh your shit as a keeper is doing a goal kick.

Just so i've got the lay of the land of this thread, half of you are lamenting the input of the NFL and having craft beer because its not traditional football and half of you want to install part of a ride from Universall Studios behind the seats so we can run some visuals from a Skrillex gig before each game instead of reading out the line-up?

Christ no wonder Levy hasn't got any hair left.

How do you know we couldn’t have it ? Obviously not right now but within 5 years maybe. As said we have perfect space for it at one end or both. I have no idea but I’d guess it could be done in close season over 3 months. Surely also it would make it a much more attractive venue for other events. Imagine AJ walking in for a fight with those screens. It actually now makes ours(screens)look really shit ? weird thing is is Krasnodar stadium in Russia but not being used for World Cup. And the whole stadium cost $310 so I doubt it’s hugely expensive.

You've misunderstood me, mate. I meant we're not having it as things stand.

I'm with you 100% and funnily enough actually also thought about AJ when I mentioned boxing in an earlier response.

Again, it would only be used for replays etc during the game, just like at WHL and other stadiums. But before the game, at half time and after the final whistle, it could be an awesome facility & used to show previous Glory Glory nights at the old WHL etc.

I think you're possibly exaggerating it, though. It would/could be used for exactly what the chosen screens in the new stadium would/will be used for, but it would just be bigger and more encapsulating. In my opinion, of course.

Personally I'd prefer the atmosphere came from the stands and wasn't dictated from a control room somewhere. God knows, the world spends enough time staring at screens as it is.

I have never exaggerated in my life, if i ever exaggerated i would literally die. Personally i think it's naff, and imagine it would be very very expensive to do right, plus it would remove a lot of natural light into the stadium which is probably important for something sciencey, they don't have daylight in Russia so they wouldn't notice.

It does look cool but it's just a bit naff and gimmicky, ive only just made peace with LED advertising boards.

Fair enough, I can respect a difference of opinion (y)

I posted this video a few weeks ago and think it's great - would've been perfect given the way the stands flow around the stadium.

I don't think it's tacky or American, I just think it's cool use of new technology (and other fans would be fucking jealous).

Just as a general point, I think it will be interesting to see what other events we can attract to the stadium. I'm not convinced Boxing will be one of them though (as I've said before). For a stadium worthy fight, Wembley will win every time because of the bigger capacity, and in the winter months Cardiff has a roof and a bigger capacity. Unless a fighter has specific reason for wanting a certain stadium (eg. Hatton in Manchester, Bellew at Goodison) then I think those two have the market largely sewn up.

But thats where we have a heck of a niche, for fights/gigs that are too big for the O2 but not quite at the level for Wembley, like if Fury fought Bellew (or whatever) as shitty as that fight might be and isn't going to be filling 90,000 but could do 50,000, where else would you have it? We're high up that list.

Definitely will be able to get lots of gigs. Boxing I just don't think there is that much of a niche to exploit.

Also those screens reduce the capacity of the stadium by a few hundred I bet

If it was my choice I would just do the north stand. I think you might be able to just lose the back row in the wavy bit so probably only couple hundred seats. But who knows it’s a bit of a hypothetical whim and there maybe many technical reasons why it’s not viable. But it certainly would have a wow factor. The more I look at the current set up I just think it looks a mess.

Throughout the entire stadium discussions and development, we've clearly attempted to appeal to our friends across the pond and, with the NFL deal, we'll end up being reasonably well known to a pretty decent sized NFL fanbase around the world.

So, with the global popularity of boxing, I'd imagine that could attract the interest of the networks who offer PPV and Box Office etc.

It may not be a matter of us exploiting a niche, but the niche exploiting our new facility?

I think our main rival for events will be London stadium. They seem to be doing a lot of concerts. Clearly in regard to sight lines and facilities we will blow them out the water. LS is already on a tightrope be funny if we took enough of their business to bankrupt them and leave West Ham homeless ? in regard to boxing. The British scene is the busiest it’s probably ever been in terms of big fights. I think there’s plenty that could fill the 60k option. And our closeness to pitch would be so much better for boxing.

I posted earlier that I'm sure there will be a dedicated NFL section of the new shop. Makes sense. Not some transient thing. It could actually be the biggest area for NFL (as a whole) stuff in the UK.
