JJ mentioned that the agents are being extra difficult this window. Do you foresee that changing this week? WIth the window closing in England where, let’s be honest, most of the money is and most teams have been stymied this window do you think they’ll loosen up a bit?

I think deals will have to be done this week or their clients might just get upset. As you rightly say we have the most money here so no deals for people wanting a move will mean the agents and players on the move will get less

They've been super kind to Liverpool, West Ham, Arsenal, and many other clubs. I wonder what the problem could be with us??

All jokes aside we buy the majority of players in the last week of the window.

Sometimes this works out and others it doesn’t. There must be a reason for it, most likely that teams having to sell drop their price or people become available is my guess.

Frustrating though when other teams seem to get players in easily.

Why just remember those signings.

What about Bale Modric Eriksen Vertonghen Dembele Sanchez Dele Alli Defoe Berbatov Adebayor Toby Holtby Lloris Walker Son Lamela Chadli Dier Parker Corluka Carrick etc etc

Oh and everyone’s favourites David’s VdV

Some of those listed look good in hindsight but were little known at the time of signing and some of them you're stretching it even adding them to the list. How many of those signings addressed our NEED at that specific time.

I think Grealish is a very interesting prospect but it fits more with a 2 year + development plan that fits more with the player trading profile that Levy seems to prioritise more often than not during transfer windows.

It's because we're the cheapest trick in the worst part of town.

Could be a fair point.

It could be partly because average players are costing £40+ plus obscene wages.

But then we have been like this when average players were £15m.

ITK's have stated that Levy leaves it late because prices get lower at the end of the window (clubs, players, and agents get desperate), that's why he leaves it late usually.

I would have thought JG would have been a useful, homegrown addition to supplilent any first choice with good sell on value and low risk. I don’t think adding him and a potential first choice would be overkil being the need to strengthen that area but then it's not my money or budget, I guess the initial amount we could had dealt at wasn’t low enough for him to be viewed this way.

Oh, REALLY? So. DL is spending around £800M of his and JL's money (remember they actuallly own ENIC!) and they're the cheapest trick? Get real. I am not going to be abusive, but you are sorely tempting me!

JJ on Twitter saying Graelish isn't 1st choice.

JJ also complaining about agents agreeing that their player will come and still touting the player around. But isn't this exactly what we are doing with grealish and a lot of others who are our plan b, c etc.

It's obviously somewhat of a question of degree, and I assume that there have been some extreme or frustrating events, but in principle can one complain if agents are covering their options like the clubs do.

They are spending the clubs money. Levy and Lewis are not spending a dime of their own money on this project. The club is a sustainable business on its own. The owner only loans in(last time they did so was to float the Bale money for a few weeks before he was sold) and takes out through salary or payback of loans. The club is paying for the stadium and the club pays for transfers. The club takes in from tv money, commercial, merch and player trading. I think mostly everyone knew the stadium would effect the window despite what ITK said. And it will effect transfers the next few years as well as we'll have a ~£400m loan from the banks to pay off. However, I dont think anyone really expected it to be like this where we do no business and i dont think it is smart to do absolutely no business in the opening summer. You'd think making a splash to open with could jumpstart things and pay dividends for you on the commercial side.

And Moutinho, I think?

Anyway, let's finalize JG tomorrow as first movement looking to be going on now. He must not play tomorrow for Villa!
