Time will tell.

We've made our bed, now we have to sleep in it.

But that means no excuses:

No "our players are tired after the World Cup"

No "it is taking us time to settle into the new stadium"

No "all of our competitiors have strengthened"

If this is all part of some grand plan, then great. No need for excuses.

But if that's not the case, then don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

Brilliant post and wicked phrase at the end, that has now entered my vernacular

There's no ambition under ENIC to kick on. We have become Arsenal, and will likely go gradually backwards on the pitch now as they did.

Having said that, it isnt the end of the world IF we keep the squad together. Fourth is a possibility, assuming as always that we have good luck with injuries and Kane can find a way to keep going.

The first month looks daunting though and could well set the tone. Lack of new blood, fitness among key players and symbolically Eriksen moving into the last two years of his contract feels ominous.

See you in the Newcastle player ratings thread.

There it is lads and lassies, we've gone backwards already, fourth is now a POSSIBILITY!! Being a Spurs fan is absolute mind crushing torture!!:(

Last season Poch repeatedly played the likes of Sissoko and an out of form Aurier over our highly rated academy prospects but now all of a sudden the youth are the answer to all our problems. As others have said, it's clearly out of necessity not choice. I would have no issue at all if Poch had looked at the young players in our academy and decided that we didn't need any signings due to the quality coming through, but that is clearly not the case as we have been chasing signings all summer. Just very, very ineffectively.
Indeed I wonder if selling the likes of Bennetts and Griffifths are looking like good moves now, surely if our plan was to play 'youth' then they would stay thinking they'd have a chance of first team football. Not for this thread though sorry.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Plus we have to try and keep the energy up over the whole season as we made a meal of some games last season. Not sure whether it was due to missing the kind of midfield player that can offer us something different when we are finding it difficult to break teams down or it's something that Poch can coach into them. Maybe Moura is partly the answer.

How is being "tired" (fatigued) after a long season and a long world cup an excuse? It's simply a physiological fact.

Whether you sign a player or not does not change the physical symptoms of fatigue in human beings. Wtf?

Everyone seems to have forgotten we lose Sonny for a month as well, maybe 2 years!! We should have gone for at least one in! I know how Jack feels now, disappointed and disillusioned.

The state of this thread. We are all frustrated. But can we not spam this place to shit with bitching and moaning please. There’s still three hours to go and it’d be nice if we didn’t have to sift through tonnes of off topic crap to find any ITK that might pop up.

When Herc the most positive of ITK starts laying in to Levy

When Trix the most level headed ITK starts saying it’s all on the bald buffoon...

You know some serious shits going down

I just can’t wait until mid-October, the squad languishing off of a midweek fixture in CL, when our beleaguered team loses 3-1 at home to Brighton. Will absolutely love that.

So your entire argument is that we have 3 good CB's (4 if you include Dier, but appears he will be needed primarily in midfield next season) and we only need 2, because only 2 on the pitch at once. Brilliant.

If we had signed players, they'll be more options for squad rotation without losing quality. What don't you get?

I thought the whole thing with Toby was that he and Poch were going to sit down and see if they could work things out and IF they did work things out Toby would be signing the contract that was presented to him last year that he turned down.

So it sounds like Toby and Poch have made nice....did he sign the contract?
