What I wanted most from the window was for Poch and the key players to stay/sign new deals and some cover at CM to replace a fading Moussa - I got some of what I wanted.

I really hope this means a focus on bringing through youth rather than players like GKN and Llorente. If it does and if we don't sell any key players to Europe then I'm mildly disappointed but generally optimistic.

All in all 7/10 I'd say - assuming we don't sell anyone important over the remaining few weeks.
You set your sights at a modest level - fair play. If we have kids that can step up that's great. My only fear is that we remain a 'work in progress'. I'm getting a bit sick of the faint praise of 'they've got a great team, they play great football but they won't step up to the elite level until they start winning trophies.'

Feel very sick and let down. If we start badly, or fade badly late on, this can all be traced back to this window and leaving ourselves so thinly spread, especially in midfield. Yes, the starting 11 are class, but there's not any real depth, much in the way of game changers, anyone to throw on late in a game to save or win one. First team since 2003 not to sign anyone in the summer window. Only team in the PL not to sign anyone - every other club has brought in at least 3. Only team in the 5 top European Leagues not to sign anyone. Only team competing in this season's Champions League not to sign anyone. And if MoPo is disillusioned and walks, followed by some of our big players, it will be horrendous. Now we know what "the bald eagle" is made of.

Really?...Really mate? Jesus christ..

Im adding you to the list

“Of course, people in football find it difficult to understand that Tottenham didn’t sign or sell players, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently. If we are happy with our squad and cannot improve our squad, sometimes it’s better to keep our squad together. Now we have players who compete at a high level in the World Cup, we have the captain who lifted the trophy. I am sure we are going to be better, no doubt about that.”

I just hope we use this opportunity to blood in some of our academy guys and see if they can make an impact and take that step up from first team fringe to first team contributor.

This farce can’t be sugar coated. It was constantly repeated by the eternal optimist that the window is still open and we should judge then blah blah, now they move the goal posts and say we still have a strong squad etc etc. Yes we do but this team has won nothing and is not going to suddenly this season when it’s exactly the same and our rivals have strengthened. Our bench options have no game changers, our midfield is our clear weak spot with degrading or injury hit players. God help us if Eriksen ever gets injured for a spell. Our only slither of hope is that Lucas is as good as he was a few years ago and Lamela ( who I must admit I don’t rate as highly as a lot do on here ) can stay fit and injury free for more than 5 minutes.

It's going to suck to see quality players that we could use move for reasonable fees for the next 3 weeks.

How exactly have Arsenal/United strengthened their teams? Personally I don't think Chelsea has strengthened either...

I reckon Levy has one eye on Grealish and Martials contact which will both have a year to run next summer. How depressing as it has nothing to do with addressing our sporting needs now.

On the window as a whole....
Extremely disappointed, but not surprised in the slightest. Unfortunately, this is what these owners are all about. Doubt they will ever change and will always have an excuse about something.
I think the main problem is expectations. We all expected, like most teams, to try and improve our first team. It became obvious a long time ago we never intended to spend this summer.
Was going to have a major rant, but I’m so drained from this window that just can’t be fucked anymore. What I will say is these owners are not the right people to take us to where we want to go.
Trying to get positive... On reflection, and as long as Toby, Dembele and Rose stay, I still feel confident we can still make it into the top four.

Careful mate, he knows his shit. He's just as pissed as the rest of you. In fact maybe more because he knew a lot more that was happening than the vast majority of those throwing their toys out the pram.
Fair enough.

I think he has a special standing in the community because he is well connected and he should be more aware of that. I think he has used his powerful voice irresponsibly recently.

But I get it - these are emotional times !!

Full respect to all itk for putting themselves out there.

You can't argue that we haven't made a big statement ahead of moving into the new stadium. A massive, steaming pile of a statement. :poop:

I thought the worst thing that’s happened over all of this is the fact that all of our (mine certainly) enthusiasm and optimism over the new stadium and hope over finally being in a position to kick on and really be a part of the top table has just melted away. Rightly or wrongly right now my excitement levels as a fan are pretty much zero. It’s obv well early to say and may be knee jerk but there are at least 4 far more likely candidates for the top 4 above us right now whereas last season it was only 2. That’s regression in my eyes. Guess we’ll see....

For me the rating for this window is a solid E and I don't understand how anyone can say it's better than that.
There are plenty of people saying we have kept this squad together, even if we haven't added to it.
I hate to remind you all, but there are still twenty two days for our players agents to get in their ears, suggest a lack of ambition, and work on deals to get them away to another country.
I sincerely hope what we have now is what we go into September with, minus Janssen, GKN and a few others, but I have this nasty feeling Real and Barca are hovering around. Still think Rose will be gone as well.
I really don't see us being able to challenge for anything this season as our squad depth isn't enough if key players get injured. Top four, maybe, top six more likely.

I totally understand that, I suspect the difference is that I have never been convinced that one or two new names would take us to this fabled next level and suspect we'd actually get in a couple of make weight types - so I'm relatively pleased.

Obviously if a genuinely special player became available and was willing to sign up to our wage structure - which is improved but still not up there with the big boys as far as I know? I also am concerned about our midfield but I think that Levy and Poch have earned my trust and if they are confident then I have to be too.

Poch seems reasonably calm and happy here
