I'm saying what's obvious your just being deliberately obtuse and it makes you look very stupid.

Your questions are irrelevant.

He was drinking and driving at 2:30 in the morning. That is not the behavior I expect of a professional athlete.

How am I being deliberately obtuse?, you are literally making stuff up to force an opinion for reasons which fit your agenda on this subject, that is the very definition of stupidity right there.

Wouldn’t have expected such a bad error of judgement from Hugo

Put the club in a lose lose situation

Liverpool would have made T shirts by now defending him - suspect we will play a straighter bat

I don't really care about excuses. If he was drinking and driving at 2.30 in the morning I don't really care about him being just over the limit or not.
Being a professional athlete with training the next morning he should not have been drinking at all, period.

As some have stated, he is still innocent until proven guilty but this is pretty damning and from my point of view, absolutely unforgivable.

We all know the answer, despite the apologists. He may well have gone out for a meal, but a 2:30 alcohol level means it's pretty damned obvious that he chose to see the night in, either at a late night establishment or club, with his friends or family and partied on with the booze. Anyone who knows London knows he didn't just go out for a burgewr and half pint until the earlier hours.

You realise that a lot of football fans ARE morons and a lot of young people ARE that impressionable? Look how many worship that Logan Paul idiot.

As for "footballers are people too". Nah. I have never gotten behind the wheel of a car after a drink and I'm not a millionaire who can afford to leave their car in London overnight. It's not rocket science to just use a bit of common sense and say "I've had a drink, it might be dangerous, my employers and fans might not be impressed" and just not bloody do it.

Alot of people in the world are idiots. But saying that anything a famous person do will somehow make it a valid thing to do for others, is just as moronic. Everyone with more than one brain-cell, won't change their stance towards drunk-driving because of anything Hugo Lloris does or does not do.

I'm not saying that everyone drives under the influence, but it is a pretty common crime after all. Should Hugo have thought twice? Obviously yes. But he isn't the first, and won't be the last human being to make that mistake.

I can understand why some people on here are upset. Drink driving is an extremely selfish thing to do and he deserves his punishment if he did it through his own stupidity. I would like to hear an explanation before condemning him though as it does seem totally out of character. For all we know his drink could have been spiked, or he could have had a few drinks with lunch and thought they'd be out of his system by the evening. If it's the former then it would throw a different light on the incident.

Christ on a bike there is a load of self righteous people on here. He was stupid, that’s it.
Everyone here has made mistakes, if you haven’t you’re lying.
Get over yourselves.

I would expect a 2 week fine with the money going to a charity linked to drink driving, a very public apology and the captaincy stripped. Any less would be poor from the club imo. We can't allow this sort of thing to take place.

What does 0.08 equate to in terms of how many drinks any given person can have?
Here the rough guide is two standard drinks in the first hour and one every hour after that (for men) and that is for 0.05.. A standard drink here is not a pint (500ml), it's a 285ml glass of beer,or a 100ml glass of wine (not a pint of wine like some of you poms drink).

A mistake is going out the night before training, drinking, and staying out until at least 2am. That's already a massive display of disrespect to his teammates, the club, and the fans who've worked their nuts off to afford the privilege of watching him play. Getting in a car and driving after that is far, far worse because it's a 'mistake' that puts innocent people in physical danger.

Agree?? Thankfully his mistake didn’t cause damage to anyone. Yes its a very serious mistake and like I said take his punishment , make sure it never happens again and we all move on.

You can't compare him to common folk though. He has enough money to take a taxi every day of his life and he is looked up to by millions of kids. No one gives a shit if you or I do it but it's different when you are in the public eye.

Take the drink aspect out of it for a second.

We have a player out at 2am in the lead up to one of the big fixtures in the season, against a rival.

Now, whatever scenario you try to present in mitigation, do people really think that is the best most committed way to prepare? I could understand if it was one of the minnows, but we're playing a competitor. I'd expect a player to be able to exercise restraint that week in the preparation. He should be nowhere but tucked up in bed FFS.

You're embarrassing yourself. He wasn't at a "2.30 alcohol level" as you keep stating, I'm not even sure that's possible. He was arrested at 2.30.

Dude he's not 22 years old - he's a man in his 30s who should know better.

He's also a professional athlete so shouldn't be getting drunk during the season anyway. In fact I would guess most top players don't drink at all.

It's, what, 5 days before the game though. I don't think that's a big issue, unless he was blind drunk obviously. That part of the situation all depends on the team policy on going out and all that sort of thing. Perhaps that will be addressed in a club statement.
