So both Edwards and Onomah in the last games made the most tackles despite being lazy players with attitude problems. It's almost as if body language or movement isn't as important as what they're actually doing. As I've always said they're no Oliver Skipps when it comes to getting around the pitch, but and with Onomah in particular if your completing the most dribbles, making the most tackles and found the most as the defensive most midfielder and people are still calling you lazy you're on a hiding to nothing. I'd like to see how much ground he actually covers compare to other players in the team, I have no idea if it will be high or low, but I've never thought he was lazy and will be intrigued as to whether it would support or disprove my inkling. Must be a reason why international coaches love him.

Sounds like a good start, either way.

his heatmap compare to other DMs

Noone changes their opinion as much as you though. If anyone does they'll say after seeing them initially, not sure on him, or he shows promise, then comment on whether he has improved or declined.

You will say 'can't see what other people see, just a poor Gary Docherty' then a year later go 'always liked that lad, think he could be the next Messi' or vice versa depending on the player. You've done the same with Skipp, Maghoma, Roles and there will be a lot more. I'm not the forum police but how your present your opinion can be frustrating. It's why people will call you out on it, and then not take you seriously. The 'danger' is that when you go onto claim you have watched so and so 100s of times people, who don't watch much are going to actually pay attention to what you have to say, when you're actually going off very little. They'll form their opinion off that, and assume so and so is rubbish after you're writing someone off after a couple of games.

Its not a competition on who can 'call it first'. No one is trying to prove anyone is more of an expert than anyone else on here, we all share information and go off what we have available. It's OK to say, 'I'm not sure on this player, I haven't see enough' rather than giving a final view after 5 u23 matches just to say you knew before everyone else.

It’s a forum I can have whatever opinion I like. Please find one time I’ve ever compared a player to Gary Doherty. I only give opinions on players I’ve watched a number of times. I don’t claim to be a pro scout. Just somebody that enjoys football and has an opinion on players. If people don’t like my opinion fair enough. There’s enough other opinions here for people to make a rounded judgement and they have their own eyes. There’s no exam or criteria people have to pass to post in this thread, it’s not a closed shop. If you don’t like my opinions ignore them. It’s pretty easy not to read a post.

We all hope Josh does well and plays for our first team eventually but at the moment I wouldn’t be putting any money on it. Forget the stats and watch the game. He doesn’t impose himself on a game.

But in the Onomah thread you say......

We cannot judge Josh until he’s had a few games. Having said that...that was not a really good game at all. For one of their goals he just stood and watched his man run off him. Hope he can improve on that performance. If he doesn’t he won’t be with us next season. Is he really any better than Tom Carroll

He hasn’t imposed himself on a game this season or last with villa. I’m not saying he never will, I hope he does but on all available evidence , incl when he played for us, I am not confident it will happen. There is no point people on here praising our youth players just because they are our players, when others can see that they are short of the required standard. The game just seems to pass Josh by.

Got to admit I'm surprised oluwayemi has started the season in goal. Kurlyowitz is the better and more promising keeper imho.

At my first game this season. Shashoua and Markanday's link up play and understanding of each others game is incredible. Also the awareness and composure they show as well as Bowden is brilliant. All of their ability to turn out of trouble is top class. White is similarvto the above but not as evident at CB, while the others are playing in compacted environments.

I reckon DM is one of the best u18 players I've seen for Spurs. I feel because of his mannerisms he's easily missed but looking at whst he actually does, I don't think I'm overreacting. It's really hard to judge. His dribbling is very decent, and the wriggling ability and strength and determination is impressive.

Richards looking a tad rusty but still is clever, aggressive and slick self. Very brave fit his goal and almost got injured.

Parrotts holding the ball up well, showed a some good skills, but missed a golden chance to put us one up which he mishit.

This is a very good TEAM. In the past we've looked like individuals trying to bring it together but these guys loom good together which is why they have probably stated off so well. Hope 2nd half goes well

4-0 now.

white(pen) and richards again. just for context, west ham had won 4 of their first 5.

richards subbed off for clarke, great first game back for him and i think it had kind of been forgotten how good he was last season.

edit: 5-0! parrott

make that 6-0 (bennett)

7-0 lol (parrott)
