I stumbled into a bit of stadium ITK this afternoon. It turns out that the boyfriend of a young woman I know (works at my gym) is the Stadium Production Manager. His responsibility is the video that goes up on the screens, the corresponding productions on backstage screens, shows at half time, that kind of thing.

She was telling me that he's been doing his nut a bit because he has had to adapt his product for the conflicting requirements (mainly software I guess) of three different stadia: Wembley, MK and the THS. He's run off his feet trying to catch up.

The bit that will interest people here is that the more senior staff are very clear about when the stadium is going to open. They all know, but they've been forbidden from saying anything, because the club set a timetable once which didn't pan out, so they're not going to release another until they are 100% sure they can deliver it. She wasn't giving anything away in terms of dates or matches, to the extent that I don't know if she knew and wasn't telling or had been stonewalled by the boyfriend.

The other thing that arose, although not in as many words, is that everything was on target for the 15 September opening until the fire alarm fiasco emerged. That's been the problem, not a cover for the overall build being months behind. It took the whole team by surprise and capsized everything.

Finally, ITK I can have faith in. Halleyuyia.

That’s been the problem when I happen to get little bits of ITK from various places. It’s all been quite boring. Can’t you sensationalise something?

No, thanks anyway. Sometimes the truth can be what has been staring you in the face all along.

Initially, it would not require a lawsuit. It would involve enforcing the liquidated damages clause in the contract with Mace. It would only require legal action if a dispute arises over the implementation or the quantum of the damages to be deduced ... which happens depressingly frequently.

It's not just "the contractor". It's which (sub)contractor(s) executed defective work and whether the defects were caused by their failure to follow the specification and drawings, or because someone else's specification and drawings were incorrect.

These disputes involve multiple parties - they run and run and usually end in a commercial settlement: a deal that everyone feels equally is bad for them! If they can't reach that settlement, that's when lawsuits start to fly. Bad news. Expensive for everyone and only the lawyers make money.

That's interesting, David. Thanks for posting.

I had assumed as much. No wonder these lawyers all have fancy houses! :D

Presumably we’re close to annouing the test events in the next few weeks then? Perhaps the Chelsea match might actually be the opener.

The doozers are always handy with a camera aren't they?

Saw a green light go on in that oblong thing on camera 2 today that a doozer thought was a moment worthy of preserving.

Seemed to be a tour going on earlier, so expect lots more "informed" opinions in the coming days...

At the start of the month I posted this:-
Ok so the grass is going in but WHEN are they going to bloody well paint the white lines?
Lighty64 responded with this:-
when it's all complete and this thread is closed up you really will be lost won't you. you've got your grass, now you want it painted on, then it will be goalpost and nets. after that we will need is 62+k fans, a football, 2 managers and their coaches, 22 players a bench full of subs 4 horrible men dressed in black shorts and whatever colour tops.

Grass - check
white lines - check
Goalposts - check
Nets - check

Nearly there Lighty':)

An article from Dan Kilpatrick states that "the club is expected to confirm in the next fortnight that the Premier League home games against Chelsea on November 24 and Southampton on December 5, at least, will be relocated to Wembley." Not sure if that's based on the general belief that Burnley will be the first game or if his sources (Jesus Perez, apparently) gave him that info.

You can’t just out his source. Perez will have to go into hiding now!

And there we have confirmation of one reason why Levy didn't tell fans earlier that the project was going to be late. He wants to keep the pressure on Mace. Presumably his thinking is if you set a new target, then everyone will relax and that deadline will be missed too.

Plus I feel he wants clarity when they work out who picks up the costs of this delay. For Levy there is 1 date:
The expected opening date of 15 Sept 2018. This date wasn't negotiable.
He doesn't want to appear to endorse any revised, or more realistic dates, to muddy the waters.

Very sensible theory.

I was under the impression that the club only refunded money if you purchased a ticket for a wembley game. ?

You can withdraw the funds to do what you want with them. I basically traded City and Cardiff for Barcelona and PSV

A season ticket means you have purchased a ticket already, so would get the refund. Why would someone who has a ticket to all home games then need to buy another one to get a refund?!

You have to manually buy a ticket to the Wembley match, even with a season ticket. You can opt to take last seasons seat or buy a different seat in a priority window. No real relation between claiming this seasons cash back and buying the individual match ticket.
