Just sent out a bat signal for Edwards and Onomah to suddenly step out of the shadows and become the players we all believe they can/could be. Could do worse in this situation, until I remembered (I think) that they're both injured too. Rubbish timing.
Will not happen but would like to see Roles get his chance.

dermi lusala scored for england's u16s, goal at about 1 min:

From the few times I've been able to see highlights, Austin appears very good (apart from his dribbling in front of goal). How is he thought of at the club?

think he's rated but seems to be behind whiteman at the moment. it's difficult for young keepers though as getting loans for them isn't easy and you often have to go further down the ladder than you would for an outfielder. hopefully next season one of them gets a chance to go out and play senior football as it's so difficult to gauge how suitable they are for us in the long-term from infrequent u23 games.

Tobi Oluwayemi also started. Bit confused by reports I've heard from him, us signing a keeper but him getting fairly consistent selection for England.

Seems Janssen is done.
Llorente being linked with move back to Spain (in the media).
Kane injured.
Son off on international break.
Dembele likely off.
Wanyama still out.
Dier still out.
Sissoko now out.

We need to add some depth here. Minimum two in midfield s one, if not two I’m attacking positions.
Can’t see us bringing four players this window, so would like to see us bring back Onomah and Edwards.

We also have Hinds behind KWP who is a player a lot of people like as well.

Another case, of all the best players in all positions are squeezed into the top 6 clubs. And if you're very very very lucky one comes from each club a year which we all know doesn't happen. But players who aren't at their level at 16 come through at significantly weaker clubs play at 17/18 because they're good enough for that level and jump so far ahead of players that are arguably worse than due to nothing more than opportunity.

Wouldn't be surprised to sign him and he goes ahead of KWP if I'm honest

So with our injury crisis, I see a lot of people on here and on social media suggesting that it may mean Parrott is included on the bench at some stage while Kane and Son are out, and Lucas injured.

I know he's only 16, but for those that have actually watched him play, do you genuinely believe this could be the case? Is he really capable of perhaps playing 10-15 minutes off the bench if needed despite his age? Or do you think it's all a bit fanciful still?

Well he's a very good player, but I've not seen anything to suggest he has earned a chance in the first team, though saying that we are incredibly short, and I believe that 85% of the players in our academy if given the chance in our first team and opportunity would look capable.

I just imagine where he would struggle as @Spurzinho is adjusting to the pace initially, the speed of thought and the physical aspect of it. If he had a run of games where he got 10mins at the end I think he'd fair OK but I wouldn't expect him to bang them in, but the run of games is important.

I remember Kane's first start in the PL against Stoke under Poch where he was being beaten in the air by Shawcross and struggling to make it stick despite coming off great EL form and being a quality striker. It's a hard position to adapt to which is why we;ve had so many striker issues and even someone like Llorente struggles to fire sometime. I'd be genuinely surprised to see Parrott come in and bang goals at this point as he isn't even doing it for our 21s, but I don't think he'd let anyone down.

Think it's way early for parrot. From all the players in recent years to come through early.. I'm thinking mainly of Rooney and owen, both peaked early and fizzled out early. The only person I can remember coming through early and not having later career issues is Giggs. Milner was playing I think at 16 and still going OK but you feel he's peaked and on is going downhill. I'd rather we took our time with him and let him develop till at least 18/19 before asking him to step into a top 4 side regularly and perform. I know they if there good enough then they're old enough, but I think players who do lose out on a long career.

Regardless I think sterling would be granted first opportunity. But could see lamela playing tip with plenty back up from alli and lucas on his return. If this is the case I think Roles deserves a crack somewhere in the AM line, even as a sub. With our injuries curtailing eriksen and alli into the midfield 3 of a diamond this would be the most realistic and deserved call up from the youth ranks.

he left to go to chelsea, it was only because we threatened to report them that he ended up at palace.

other clubs were after tob at the time too but we managed to convince him to stay. i remember saying that it'll be interesting to see which of the two made the right choice but as it stands neither are really where they'd hoped to be at this stage, though it's still relatively early days for both. i've been disappointed by tob's progress(or lack of) and i'm not really sure what we're trying to achieve this season by constantly playing him as a winger, to be fair he's quite a difficult player to define but i don't see this as the best way of using him.
isn't TOB's issue a ton of injuries big and small and badly timed to boot?
Feel as if TOB, Josh O and Amos have all been v unlucky with timing of their injuries

maybe at very young age

Max Aarons, 19, Norwich City
After unsuccessful spells at Tottenham and QPR, the former Luton schoolboy arrived at Norwich on the same basis as a 16-year-old. Earmarked by academy staff as a future first-team right-back even before earning a contract, he was championed by the then youth coach Matt Gill after shining on tour in Latvia. Aarons, a cousin of the Newcastle winger Rolando, has not looked back since, establishing himself as a fixture in Daniel Farke’s high-flying side and winning four caps for England Under-19s since breaking into the team at the start of the season.

Owen had serious injuries which could have happened at any time and not really sure you can say Rooney fizzled out. He simply didn’t look after himself as well as someone like Giggs. And Milner has probably played his best football in last 2 years. Robbie Keane also played at just 17 and went on till early 30s. I think it’s much more about a players personal routine than starting early. Ironically if Parrott enters senior squad he will likely play less football in next 3 years than if he remains with U23.

You’d have to think if Sterling doesn’t get a look in at this point he’s pretty done with us.

Yeah I’ve been hoping Sterling was going to get some bench time and maybe come on late in game.

Unfortunately this hasn’t happened and not ideal to throw him in now but I just feel he could do a job for us if given opportunity.

injuries haven't helped but i don't think he's done as well as he should be doing, he's been back fit since february last year bar a minor injury in the summer and yet he's still only in and out of the u19/u23's starting line-up.
