I have just realised that I’ve been using tourist fan incorrectly. I didn’t realise it meant non spurs fans who were just there to watch football. Then I don’t mind, I quite like them in fact.

I thought it was a new fangled term for glory hunter and referred to those who couldn’t care less when we were poor but now we’re suddenly super fans who know everything. Then I can’t stand, as I believe that if you don’t support the club equally (or even more so) in tough times, you don’t deserve to enjoy the good times. It’s not about attendance or anything like that, I get that paying x amount to watch us play badly is less justifiable than paying it to watch us play well, it’s just the fickleness inherent in fans like that, because the fans who weren’t willing to take the rough are the same fans pretty much who turn on the players when it goes badly, mocked Sissoko, castigate Lloris continuously, deride Winks and now Skipp for not being Iniesta, etc.... and then leave on the 80th minute when the game is still tight.

I do wonder if they will try and get a test event done on the weekend we were going to play Palace. It would be the perfect time to do one without a game that weekend.

We've definitely set the benchmark for compact stands on new stadiums. They have a similar angle particularly at the top just not as high as ours. It's not just how steep the stands are but closeness to the pitch, and the acoustics of the stands. I doubt it will be as impressive as ours (not being biased) but it's good to see another club taking the atmosphere seriously.

If anybody wants to read a load of conjecture with no evidence to support it then the irrepressibly useless Matt Law duly provides...

I struggle to understand the argument that we won't be allowed to open it for a midweeek game. How is opening it against a team playing against us on a Saturday, only to play another game the following Wednesday any different to opening it for an evening game straight off the bat?

Surely if it's our stadium and we have the certificates to open we can open when we choose. Playing vs Huddersfield on the Saturday, followed by a midweek Champions Leae game do people genuinely think any glitches that could occur can be and would be resolved withinn3-4 days? It's ridiculous!

It should be able to open whenever it's ready to open, regardless of what day or time that game is being played. It's a football stadium for crying out loud

I think the idea was that a weeknight game will be the worst-case scenario for transport links as there is more of an arrival/departure en masse.

Yes but they’d be no more of a transport link strain than any other midweek match, whether it’s the first, fifth or 17th match at the new ground.
