Not sure if it has been mentioned here but a new youth coach (actually assistant head of player development U16 - U23) joined in October called Jon Goodman that we poached from Notts County, which is apparently how we knew about Etete.

I saw Windy had tweeted about it

We defo need to sign Prince Henry purely based on his name ?

He’s actually Sturridge cousin.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their youth ranks with the signing of Nigerian starlet Ferdinand Okoh.

A central midfielder by trade, Okoh has penned a deal until U16 level when Tottenham will have to make a decision on their new scholarship intake.

The 15-year-old has moved on to pastures new a year after he was released by another London club, West Ham.

He has made remarkable progress over the last one year after working with established coaches to further improve his qualities and has become a better player.

Okoh has been described by his minders as a central midfielder with good range of passing and has the ability to break up play.

Spurs are believed to be mulling over a move for Derby-born Nigerian striker Kion Etete after he trained with the club last week and played for their U18s in the league.

Luke Amos, Timothy Eyoma, Jubril Okedina and Joshua Oluwayemi who have Nigerian blood flowing in their veins play for Tottenham's youth teams.

Good article and I really do appreciate your view. But what is the solution? Can we point to a league and a system which is comparable to the EPL now and say are doing it better?
Everytime a league becomes stronger the teams start losing the ability to integrate youth players into first teams. We saw it in Italy in the 90s with their ageing teams, La Liga in the 00s with a lot of talent leaving to come to England and now we see it here with players moving aborad for development opportunities. My suggestion would be to look at what the reaction was in those leagues and see if it fixed the problem? Italy still not developing youth very well and La Liga use the B teams to great affect. What direction are we going?

Probably not but I don't think we really need to look at other leagues. I know I and others are considered extreme but there have been plenty of times where players could have been tried out here and there or shown a little more trust. Let's just go with the KWP/Trippier example. Trippier has made countless errors and even despite that KWP has earned starts or more games based off his performances alone. It's nothing but fear and the manager being risk averse when it comes to playing youngsters. The supposed strength of the PL doesn't account for managers not rewarding good performances. He has literally proven he can play at the level and still not got a chance, I don't know what else to put that down too. We are seeing average players who stumble uponn opportunity, players that if they were here, not one fan would be calling for them to play for our first team, more than surviving in the PL, and hte managers are still fearful. I don't understand it.

I don't have the answers necessarily, but like I said I remember games where we were 4-1 up and there were times a youngster could come on, but people would moan at fans wanting to see an academy player get a chance. Sometimes there are perfect conditions where academy players can't possibly screw things up, even though I don't think they are any more risky than pros, and the opportunity is missed. I don't think that has anything to do with the league just poor planning, maybe favouritism and an element of wanting to give bought players more time to prove themselves to encourage the chairman to give more money in the future. If we use the logic a lot of fans use, N'Koudou can't even get a game for a struggling Monaco side or Burnley, and is still prioritised over academy players. What could he possibly offer over a youngster, even just Roles, the potential gains from trying out a Roles will be so much better than anything we could ever get from N'Koudou. We signed a player who couldn't even get into France's youth national sides, just because he got opportunities in Ligue 1 when we have wingers who were the stars of England age groups who are winning international tournaments. I just don't know whether the strength of the league excuses that lack of faith or judgement.

Doesn't surprise me that we are looking at strikers, Whittaker will be the only one from the next intake and he isn't top top quality, though he is decent. I've not heard any more about this Thomas kid. With Parrott likely playing up and RIchards being too old, it makes complete sense to bring in another prospect especially if they are half decent.

What has happened to Enoch Asante??? A promising first year scholar Asante, a striker, as far as I know he made his last appearance against Chelsea U18 in August 2018.

He's had some injuries I believe. Even fully fit I don't think he'd be pulling up any trees. He's more Shaq Coulthirst than Harry Kane.

I absolutely love the Nigerian medias dedication to letting the world know players are either Nigerian or of Nigerian descent. Every time Dele is in the News there is a guaranteed article on Spurs Media watch from some Nigerian media outlet claiming 'Nigerian Spurs star scores 2'. They do the same with Ross Barkley and it tickles me every time.

I have seen Whittaker play and I do not think he is a natural CF he is more of a wing forward and does not play like a say Parrott, I have only seen him once so I do not know how good he is but he does not look like a CF to me but that is just first impressions and I could be completely wrong.

When I last saw him he was a striker but probably more of a forward.

But just been reminded we have Asante who if fit will likely be first choice striker though clearly unreliable due to injuries. Definitely think we need to sign another.

Oh and great to see Greenwood and Chong come on for United. Takes balls from OGS to bring on a 17 year old winger in such a situation. Though again they're missing about 10 players, would be funny if they manage to stumble on him like Rashford while all these players are out.

That is a proper shame. Wells was a very respected young coach. I hope his replacement is someone progressive and modern.
