Didn't see the end of the game but seems like wba went down to 10 & parked the bus something a lot of teams do against us. How did grealish go at trying to create against a team with little intention to attack?

He basically started to find pockets around an arc on the edge of the last third and moved the ball inelligently trying to create to ensure Villa played with width. He was also keen to stand someone up and then beat them. He did not force things as much as I thought he would though.

From what I saw he was what Eriksen is for us in that situation. He came deep to collect the ball from his CBS, then would be the transition up the field. He’d then find his way to the edge of the box and try to pick out passes/have a shot/or beat his man. He was clearly the best player on the field, extremely tidy especially on the edge of the box constantly finding good passes and making the right decision in my opinion.

I do wonder off grealish is regretting not joining us last summer? Could have been in the CL final instead of the play off final

He watches most of our games and is constantly posting to his story while we playing, he’s tight with Winks and Dele from what I’ve seen. Soo I’m just going to take this as inspired by Spurs

He wanted to join us, they didn’t want to sell when the new owners came in. He had too much respect for villa to kick up a fuss

He saw a lot of the ball but didn't do much with it - short answer. Completed simple passes, but failed with more adventurous ones.
The lad is unproven in PL - it's the only certainty about him.

Grealish is villa through and through and he is also their captain, if they go up I give us 0% chance we sign him

As frustrating as it would be to miss out on him, can't help but respect that attitude. It's the same one we all hope our players have and it's refreshing to see.

I think that’s a bit harsh. The thing I noticed was his appreciation of space. Almost all his passes were perfectly weighted and most played very quickly ( both things which we often fail to do imo).

We badly need a quality ball playing CM. Winks is good but the injuries are a problem, and he isn't as attacking-minded as Grealish.

Yep. Pretty much said as much publicly in that interview with Sky a couple of months ago. I'm paraphrasing, but he said he was disappointed not to join because he wants to play at the highest level, but ultimately his dream was always to play for and captain Villa, and he's living that dream so he can't be too disappointed.

I feel like I've posted way too much about Grealish recently, but his attitude and mentality is so fucking sound. It speaks volumes of his maturity and character that he's managed to completely transform the image of himself being an immature party boy into what it is now where he almost seems to be universally respected for his dedication and hard work at Villa, despite being hated by fans of pretty much every other club in the Champ because of how good he is.

He would be a great addition to the squad I think - not a world beater by any means but would give us very needed depth in midfield and could also cover for Eriksen.

Wasn’t Rooney a boyhood Everton fan, and didn’t he say “once blue, always blue” or something similar before leaving for Man U? I admire his loyalty but Villa will do well next season to avoid relegation. If he has any ambition he’d come to us.

I think he wanted it but new owners and maybe the fact that he wouldn't get that much time on the pitch for us, held him back. Wise decision imo. Captain of Villa now and has been doing well for them this season.

What I do really like about Grealish is the fact that he plays fast, early and direct balls into the feet of the strikers in a way that our other players don't really do at the moment and then runs on looking for the return.

I think Kane would really enjoy this, especially with runners either side in Son/Moura.

Nah, he said himself that he really wanted it, wanted to play CL, and believed that he would have made the English squad if it had have happened. He pretty much said that the only reason it didn't happen is because the new owners came in and they flat out refused to sell him for anything other than an exorbitant price.

He needs guidance and a manager that can not only improve him but put an arm around his shoulder, know anyone like that?

Noticed this a lot the other night. Such a great match for us stylistically. Wouldn't have to change his game at all.

Watched him the other day and it was a tough match to shine in but I did like his attitude of always wanting the ball, making himself available. He got kicked a lot but was not phased by that which is all good
