Eriksen has I believe always dreamed or playing at Real, or maybe Barca. Looks like he is happy to be second or third choice if he gets a move there which seems a pity but perhaps he wants an easier time now than the intense EPL

Melchor Ruiz, a journalist for COPE who is identified on Reddit as a Tier 1 (i.e. most reliable) source for Real Madrid, is saying that Eriksen is the first alternative if Madrid can't get their preferred signing of Pogba. That's consistent with reports that have been circulating for some time now, so it seems that the Pogba deal (or lack thereof) will determine what happens with Eriksen.
I wonder what our stance will be if the Pogba deal drags on. Eriksen might lose interest in Real also if he feels he's not their first choice.

Don't want him to go obviously but I've always thought he had planned his career very deliberately and very thoughtfully. If he decides he's ready to move on and go to one of the Spanish giants then I'll wish him well and thank him for his service. I don't think he's irreplaceable but just hope that whoever comes in hits the ground running.

He had the 10th most key passes from open play per 90 minutes this season in the league, according to StatsBomb. Maybe others should have had their mind on a move if it meant they were going to have this type of form.

All this despite rarely playing in his correct position.

Come off it.

He could have played much better this season. Statsbomb or not.

I bet my left bollock even Eriksen himself would agree.

If we want to truly show progress we cant be bullied on this. He cannot be leaving in the last week of the window, after they've given up on Pogba. That would derail our pre season and surely upset Poch. He either needs to be commited or replaced before August.

I think this is why Herc said we would be after Lo Celso and NDombele regardless of the Eriksen situation. We'd obviously need another attacker if Eriksen left late but it wouldn't be as much of a fire drill in Lo Celso was already here.

I can't see them not getting Pogba.

I know he wants to leave but I can't see Eriksen being in any rush. If he can't find a club for him he will just look to run down his deal and if that's still the case then I still think he could even sign a new contract in 2020.

At this point, there aren't many options preferable to us.

If I recall correctly he extended his contract at Ajax by one year because he didn't want to leave on a free and deny them a transfer fee given the role they'd played in his development. The calculus is a bit different now because he's in his peak years, but given his previous I'm optimistic that we're going to get something out of him one way or another.

There were way too many mistakes and sub par performances from our regulars last season. Eriksen, Alli, Trippier, Lloris, Davies, Sanchez, Dier (when fit), Wanyama (when fit), Aurier (when fit), Lamela (when fit lol), even Kane wasn’t at his best... still found the net but the Kane of past seasons, scoring from here there and everywhere was nowhere to be seen.

Son was generally excellent barring his end of season burn out, Winks did well when fit, Moura was very good in spurts, Toby and Verts were their usual solid self’s, Sissoko was excellent and Rose wore his heart of his sleeve.

The team’s crying out for new blood and a change of direction.

The people saying that Eriksen's "heart hasn't been in it" are not only wrong but doing a massive disservice to one of the most professional players I've ever seen.

He's always had a career plan. He's been honest about it from Day 1.

He's not our hardest player but he's our hardest working. Some of his finishing output may have dropped off this season but his workrate hasn't one single iota. Perhaps, just perhaps, his "output" has dropped because most of his fellow attackers haven't been able to get on the pitch and he's had to cover deeper in midfield because our lack there.

If you want to see what a player looks like when "his heart's not in it" just look at Ozil or Hazard in "get manager sacked" mode.

We have been blessed to have Eriksen and, should he leave, I wish him all the best.

he might be our hardest working but only fitness wise, he’s never seen a tackle he wouldn’t hide from. I’m not saying he has to be Sissoko but that moment with Mane in the final was pathetic

The reason Alli, Eriksen and Kane didn’t play at their best was because our lack of squad depth didn’t allow them to be looked after physically and mentally as well as providing them with competition.

Everyone in the whole squad, bar maybe Sissoko, could have played better. He still played pretty damn good and if anyone we bring in to replace him is as creative and hard working as Eriksen was in a "bad" year then we'd all be delighted.

I actually think our system has evolved beyond him and his play style and is one of the reasons, why he hasn't looked as comfortable in it and fully committed. He is primarily a #10 that needs to operate behind a striker, everyone seems to be bringing up the fact that he has played deeper due to injuries, but I think that isn't the case and that it was a tactical shift by Poch and his new system.

Everyone always loves to bring up his running stats to indicate how hard of a worker he is, but you don't really see much of that reflected in his overall play. Realistically all that running doesn't result in as much end product as you would assume. His defensive stats are abysmal, and his offensive stats have much to be desired as well this season. Most of his key passes come from set pieces and we all know those too have been awful the past couple of years. He can't beat a man and he won't tackle a man.

He was good servant of the club and could have been a legend for us and the EPL as he was on course for being the 2nd best assister in the EPL era, but he clearly thinks he is better then we are and is looking for a bigger club, while I think we need a better and more dynamic and direct player, that will be able to take us to the next level and he isn't the player to do it.
