Player watch: Christian Eriksen

Anyway, personally the radio silence we have at the moment and this 'two week window' screams that clubs as big or bigger than us have finally gotten involved properly, and personally I'll be surprised if we even sign one of the two aforementioned midfielders.

Not into dreaming this window.

AS reporting the same according to various sources - Real going in big for Pogba, and Eriksen considering Spurs’ contract offer.

What seems weird to me is they report our offer as €24m over 4 years, or just over £100k a week. I doubt our offer would be that low considering what Kane and Alli are on.

Maybe like most journalists they haven’t got a clue and are just plucking the figures from thin air?

As much as I want to sign Lo Celso, if hypothetically it was he or Eriksen staying then absolutely I'd rather Eriksen stay. He's a genuine world class player. Lo Celso could well get to that level, but he's not at Eriksen's level yet. In 2019/20 we'd be a better team with Eriksen than Lo Celso.

In saying that, in an ideal world we have both in our team, but that's very optimistic.

i’m just worried that this whole Eriksen drama go on and on till the PL window closes whilst European window is still open till 1st Sept.

Then RM can low ball us knowing that they can sign him even cheaper in Jan or God Forbid on a free transfer next summer

I'm still not convinced Real Madrid have ever wanted Eriksen. They've spent too much money.

Plus remember how they went about getting Bale from us, this summer has been nothing like that at all.

Need to back Levy to push Eriksen to sign a deal and not put spurs in that position, I'd say 99% of us have goodwill towards Eriksen and don't blame him leaving but the scenario you put forward (waiting until english deadline has passed) would leave a bit of a sour taste.

If he stays he needs to up his shit next season! Been poor this year! No where near the player he is capable of being

Fantastic news if Eriksen signs a new deal. I'd hope that everyone would realise that IS a good move on his part and not hold his comments this summer against him, which IMO have been twisted pretty unfairly. Probably wayyyy too optimistic! I lot of fans seem to have taken to those quotes like a jilted lover.

I do believe his first choice would be Madrid if they came in but I don't think he's unhappy at Spurs either. He's a class player and I think he'll be better next year if he stays. His record in the new stadium is pretty impressive.

He also was run ragged because there was no one to replace him, as well as coming off the World Cup. If we get a few proper midfielders in and allow him to rest once in a while, I'm sure he'll get back to where he was.

Same with Sissoko ran ragged! May have been tired and ran alot which he always does anyway but the simple passes were wasteful. Regardless of the excuses he wasn't good enough by his own high standards the past season.

That’s not a total excuse. He was below par in many games this season and he does go missing in big games. Maybe you could argue so does every other player but IMO he didn’t have a very good season at all, bar some isolated long range goals / late goals. He put in some really really bad performances from the new year onwards. I’m not surprised that Madrid don’t want him tbh.

That said I hope he stays of course.

After seeing what Herc said re clauses, if he wants them he'll be offered less p/w. Cant have a fat payday but arent willing to commit wholeheartedly.

They can sign him for free in January/February on a pre-contract. It only has to be 6 months or less on his current contract. In a similar scenario, Ramsey signed for Juve in February, with his current Arsenal contract ending this summer.

So we will pretty much hold no cards if he hasn’t left or signed a new contract this summer.

Assist vs Man U when we won with 3-0.
Assist vs Liverpool in both league games.
Goal vs Inter in both games - one them a late winner.
Two assists vs Chelsea when we won with 3-1.
Assist vs Arsenal.
Assists vs Man C in both CL games.
Assist vs Dortmund.

Late goals vs Burnley and Brighton. Sure, those two are not top teams but it gave us 3 points in both game.

Eriksen can perform better than he did this season, but he actually performed well in the big games.
