IIRC that was around the same time his dog died and his own injury wasn't getting better.

and some fans were convinced he was serving a drugs ban, fucking idiots.

People are bashing Sanchez and the way he is basically robbing United, yet here is Lamela stealing a living for close to 6 years now. Move him on and close this agonizing chapter it something we should have done years ago just like with Soldado.

I had to find this and read it out loud just to make sure it was actually real. Comparing Erik Lamela to Alexis Sanchez is astounding; one is a talented player who steals a living, earning gazillions while literally not giving a fuck about anything, while the other is a talented player who has had horrible luck with injuries but who fucking bleeds Tottenham blue and who shows up in every major game he plays in. I can't count the number of times he's singlehandedly- or almost singlehandedly- won us (or at the very least battled to the death in) HUGE, season-turning matches for us. His no-look pass to Kane enabled Harry to put it on a plate for Lucas, which earned us a draw at the Nou Camp, a goal (which he himself basically created) that would result in approximately 100 million Pounds worth of Champions League earnings thanks to the vital, vital point it secured. Remember him against Juventus away, when we clawed back from 2-nil down to get a point in Turin? And who scored against Messi's Barca when they came to London?

I could go on but hopefully the point's been made: Erik Lamela consistently plays his best when the most pressure is upon us. And he always gives 100% to the cause. YES he is horribly injury prone-- and yes, that is terribly frustrating-- but sorry: Alexis Sanchez he is most certainly not.

And Sanchez probably earns more per season that a Lamela has his entire career

In what fantasy world do you people really live in. In 6 years he contributed 14 goals and 22 assists. Out of a possible 20,000 minutes of EPL football he has play 7,500 minutes that is literally 2 full seasons worth of minutes that he has played in 6 for us compared to Roma where in 2 seasons he played 4500 minutes and scored 19 goals and had 11 assists.

In 4 additional years that he has been with us he contributed 6 more goals than at his 2 years at Roma. He actual has more fouls than shots and he is a winger in what world is that acceptable. People need to stop fetishizing his 100% effort that rarely ever results in anything.

For those six years he has been on at least 60K to 70K if not even more raking in around 20Mil over that 6 year period. Time to sell him off to some other club from where he can leech of millions. As for Sanchez, he has actually earned the right to be making 400K as he carried the Scum for years with his phenomenal performances. It is only under United's management that he hasn't excelled the way everyone expected just like Pogba and co.

So what you’re basically saying is that his assists to minutes ratio (better metric than shots for a winger) is actually much better than it was at Roma, when he was regarded as playing at his best by quite a few members here?

You could say that about the majority of our squad, IMO.

You can’t have 30 players who should all be starting week in week out.

I didn’t say anything about him starting? We can realistically improve on him as a squad player

Maybe. Not by much, though.

When his fit and in form he’s a serious contender for a starting spot, IMO.

You are just being silly now!

Please, go watch the CL final again and I dare you to keep a straight face while repeating how reliable each of those four players are.

They were unable to perform decently in what should have been the most important game of their careers and THFC's history, that makes them unreliable in my books.

Just makes it more painful that probably our best AM in the Champions league this year, Lucas, who not only got a hat trick in the semi was dropped. Regardless of the performance and how it all panned out, when i saw he was on the bench i was devastated and i think it's the biggest mistake Poch has made whilst at the club (don't get me wrong i am a huge Poch fan but i still can't understand this). Still have no clue how Dele and Eriksen started over him in the final when their form was average at best.

Lamela’s ‘unreliability’ stems mainly from his poor injury record.
Now go take your hamster for a walk and stop talking silly.

You probably should look up for a job in the msm industry if you dislike honesty that much.

You realise I'm gonna keep re-quoting your post when one of them scores or does something extraordinary
