Moeen is the biggest clown in this cricket team (Vince not included because he won’t play for us again.)

I’m absolutely certain that if Moeen’s house was on fire, he’d hide in the washing machine.

Net run rate might be important so there is value in not just throwing away the last couple of wickets.

Oh no - Archer not on my wavelength

Reckon the fat lass has well and truly started to clear her throat.

Shoddy in the field at times today, bowlers didn't make full use of that wicket early doors, and the batsmen near the top of the order were mediocre.

As I said early on in the tournament, I feel England's inability to rotate the strike (they often have a hell of a lot of dot balls even posting scores of 400+) is the root cause of a lot of the problems.

This isn't the low pressure, almost exhibition type ODI games that series basically are where the ball gets smashed repeatedly. There we have been doing it better than anyone else and have got the #1 ranking on merit. World Cup the pressure is on, everyone raises their game, pitches are often used ones as well etc, and we're massively struggling to adjust. We cant milk teams comfortably at 5-6-7 an over, if the ball hasn't been muscled to the boundary then we're getting bogged down and that's when errors and silly shots happen as pressure builds.

Have to question the thinking at the start of this innings though. You can say it was good bowling, but we must know what's coming - the ball will nip about a bit and we know all about Starc and co, what they will bring, and in particular to watch for the inswinger. Play tight and see off that initial burst. But we instead have Vince getting out really wildly, Root reluctant to come forward, and then Morgan falls into the bouncer trap.

Good players, but showing no metal.
Might have been competitive, had we actually bowled half decent for the first hour and a half.

Need Roy back big time. Any news on when he is due back?

Independent

Australia was the initial target for Roy’s return, but Monday morning’s scan results show he will have to aim for a comeback against India on Sunday instead.

I made a point in this thread for David willey to make the squad for games like these.
willey would have been a real handful in this mornings conditions

Thought we've looked dog shit for the most part.

Stuffing the shittest team at the tournament doesn't really do much if you then can't beat the next two.

As for Roy and being a miss - the same Roy who we lost with in the team against Pakistan?

Scapegoating doesn't only happen in football then.

Fucking hindsight is a beautiful thing in sport.

Any batsman can have a bad match.
We have missed Roys strike rate and runs in the last 2 matches big time and he has been a top performer for the last 2 years

I think against Sri Lanka I'd probably agree, we were not at it at all bar Stokes with the bat today.

If they manage to beat India and New Zealand then probably deserve to squeak in - doubtful after that shambles today.

I thought I'd at least have this competition to look forward to during the off-season but it looks like our cricket team is in almost as much of an omnishambles as the rest of the country and the cheats will probably win again :(.

Australia played with real quality in all three departments today
and we, apart from Stoke's batting, did not.
With a little conviction that was an eminently getable target.
We don't bat that deep either.

They didn't cheat today as far as I could see.

Morgan needs to wake up and smell the coffee if he can't see what everyone can see around him. All this "our players are not feeling the pressure, we will not change the style of our play" rubbish, can you not see what is obvious to everyone, you must change the way you are playing because if we don't we will lose against India and NZ and that will almost certainly see us out of the WC. The very reason we lost to Sri Lanka and Australia, was because we think that we can play almost every shot as if it's the last over and we're trying to knock 20 or more off the last over, needless wickets from so called big name players have been thrown away with careless and brainless big bash shots when they should know better. I'm not saying that you abandon all those shots but FFS even a half wit should be realising that you pick your moments instead of lashing at every ball in a run chase, Sri Lanka and Australia posted very gettable run totals, but crass impatient stupidity saw us fall short in both games, and as a captain, you need to see what's going on and change if you want to avoid rinse and repeat, and if he can't see this and we lose in the same way in the next two then he needs to go after this WC. We've made it difficult for ourselves and we can turn this round but only if we mix up our play and shot selections but time is fast running out, so it's change behaviour now or it all ends so predictably.
