Countdown to Root saying this isn't a Test standard pitch

I think he's more likely to say that it wasn't good enough, but they know they can bat better and just have to continue to play the way they know they can, but execute it better.

Which would be bullshit. What is needed is a change of mindset first and foremost.

How much for a Boycott and Gooch to open the batting now. They always performed against the best, and would rather die than give their wicket away.
That has to be one of the most limp wristed batting displays I have ever seen from an England team.

I've just got home after a few hours and it's 78-3.

That's not bad. After Roy was out early I thought we were in real troub ... Wait a minute ...

There’s no doubt that Root needs to go as captain. If this was a football match, you’d say the team aren’t playing for their manager.

Roy, Denly, Bairstow and Buttler should be nowhere near this team.

Frankly I think it’s a slap in the face to the likes of Sibley, Northeast, Bell-Drummond, Foakes and Ballance (who has done enough to earn another chance at test level) that they can score big runs in the county division and not see their form rewarded with a call up because Root likes to keep his weird little boys club in the team.

How Gower can say that England’s collapse was primarily from great bowling with a straight face is amazing. That montage of wickets was maybe 2 or 3 difficult balls, 1 unfortunate edge from Archer and a bunch of ridiculous dangles at balls miles from being dangerous

I really think we have lost the ability to produce/train test match players!

white ball pays the mortgages, test cricket for all but the purists in the game is sadly dying or even already dead!
