Cheers. A very similar story for Mikey Holding, the W. Indies cricketing legend. He said earlier this year he used to follow Tottenham because he loved Greavesie but he doesn't follow football any more. I wonder if it's the same with Paul Merton and if so, I wonder if we can really call them celebrity fans'. I don't know.

From the above article is a line from British Director Steve McQueen. I can kind of understand how he feels but I certainly couldn't extricate myself from Spurs.
"Oh well, I gave up football. It affected my day too much. It's just stupid." He used to be a fanatical Tottenham fan, until he decided not to be, and he now no longer gives the club a thought.

Nah, he still supports Tottenham but he doesn't effect his mood or day to day, and I completely understand that feeling. My weekend and general mood would be ruined by a bad result, but now? I don't give a shit. I'll still be cheering my heart out when the next game comes though, but with the result? I literally have zero effect on that, so why be upset about something you have no control over?

For McQueen, if the game pops up and he is free, I guarantee he will sit and watch. You don't just go from fanatical and then completely switch off like that

Personally I think for the highs to feel so high there has to be the possibility of the lows too. A lot of the excitement comes from the stakes being high. I’m not convinced you can take all the good things with none of the bad. I’m not sure I’d want to either.

But I also totally agree that if it gets to the extent that it is seriously affecting your mood in a negative way then of course it makes sense to adopt a more detached attitude to it. I think the key thing is perspective. It can be incredible when we win and crap when we lose but either way it’s best to keep it in perspective. It sounds really obvious but there’s a lot more to life than football.

I've long been hoping Adele was one of us, but I heard a while back (hopefully from some mischievous lying bastard) that although Adele was born and raised in Edmonton, she's actually turned out to be a wrong 'un and supports Chelsea, so please God let that picture not be photo-shopped.

There’s a video of her singing Glory, Glory Tottenham Hotspur for Vanity Fair, so she’s. 100% Spurs.

The late Monty Norman, composer of the Bond theme, was apparently a big Spurs fan. Just heard it mentioned on the BBC R4 Today Programme this morning.

Knew it already but further confirmation:

I heard Paul Coyte say today that Jeff Beck (RIP) was a Spurs fan. I hope we get the chance to sing Hi Ho Tottenham Hotspur numerous times this Sunday. In fact due to his having been a Spurs fan I do not know why we do not sing it every game. Wolves use their version of his song. We do not have enough good songs so I personally would welcome it in the South Stand.

Yeah but knowing us, he’d have strained his back doing it and been out for 4 months…
