In terms of Premier League incomings, is this January quieter than usual? Or has it always been this quiet?
No it's quieter. FFP has caught up with a lot of clubs and they are having to cut their cloth accordingly. It was always going to happen despite what the FFP deniers keep preaching. It will hit City as well it's just going to take longer as it's a lot more complicated.

Yeah thought so. Guess it feels even stranger when we have done the most actual business at this point of the month.

FFP, every club but us are pressed and possibly facing future point reductions.

Doesn't it tend to be nearer the last week when teams start to lower their prices. I know that's the norm for spurs but I think it's across the board

Edit - as has been pointed out by a couple of people, it is in fact quieter due to ffp
I completely forget about FFP. But even so, just going to read the gossip columns and there really isn't much. Maybe it will ramp up next week onwards?

This. Last january almost 900million was spent. So far half way through this window only £27million has been spent, most of which is by us. Says it all really. I heard someone say on tv they need to look at loosening FFP rules as even teams like newcastle and chelsea can’t buy this window. Imo that is a crock of crap. We have been well run financially and have been able to do some sensible business, but these doped teams haven't so should be allowed a free pass in the future. Give it a rest.

There’s also an AfCon and Asia Cup taking place. That means many players aren’t focused on transfers.
You’ll notice the lower leagues are at it like rabbits though. A very different market.

So as far as ffp goes. We know Man Utd, arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, wolves, notts forest, Newcastle are struggling to balance the books.

Man City are a law to themselves. Not sure on liverpool, they seem pretty good at balancing the books by selling at decent amounts.

Brighton and ourselves must be way ahead of the game in terms of financial flexibility.

wonder how the other clubs stack up?

How much of that 900m was spent by Chelsea?

Be interesting to see how he does coz I'm sure he was the striker last summer that pretty much everyone on here wanted us to take a punt on? I could be wrong mind
You are right. Which having watched him I couldn’t quite understand at the time. He was incredibly raw. I think it was one of those players that fans hype themselves up about based purely on a 5 min YouTube clip and good goal stats without ever having watched them. What I would say tho is I think the rumours messed with his head a little. A move to France is good for him. He still has a lot of natural talent but needs a lot of coaching.
