They've recalled Cesare Casadei from Leicester (who are top of the Championship). He's played 21 games for them. Thats proper game time and experience at a high level. They are either loaning him out to a PL club OR need him back in readiness for someone's exit..... Watch this space.
Interesting. However this article seems to suggest that he was getting playing time but isn't now:

Gallagher to me is a decent option for us in that number 8 role but when everyone is fit a Sarr and Bentancur are both quality in that role. Biss seems best suited to the 6 role and I’d be fishing for anther quality 6 rather than Gallagher. From my couch I’d go for Phillips over Gallagher.

I can't see this transfer happening, but the fact remains that if we qualify for Europe we will require quality in depth. So if it is not to be Gallagher then Ange would i suspect like a similar player this window.

Or an FFP forced sale....?
That's another possibility though if he can't get into the Leicester team now it doesn't sound like he'd be worth that much yet. £10m perhaps. ? If that's all they needed and they have a buyer lined up then sure

Brentford can’t afford the wages of Nketiah .
Allegedly Toney is on £25k a week a one of Brentford’s highest earners

Looks like the highest earner at Brentford is on about £50k pw, but you're right as I just checked the Arsenal wages and Nketiah is on £100k pw.

That. Is. Mental.
Completely. Arsenal still have the problem that they have had for years which is sorting contracts properly. The whole Van Persie etc etc situations where they have let their best players run down their contracts were idiotic and now they are paying mediocre players huge sums of money.

Nketiah is the opitome of bang average. A guy who scored 3 league goals in 20 games in the championship on 100k a week. He has nothing to his game that makes him even a mid table premier league player. He would struggle to get in Nottm Forest, Brentford or Wolves. Let alone a team trying to win the league.

We should ask our CAA Base Agency mate Eberechi Eze to help us out with a game of poker v Chelsea on deadline day to strike a deal for Gallagher as cheaply as possible. Make our we have the option to sign him instead.. I mean I’d rather sign Eze, but you know what I mean. I bet these kinds of things do happen.

Think the club may already be doing this with the 'abandoned until the summer' story this morning

I’m not sure if I should post this in the ‘unpopular opinions’ thread instead. I am not keen on Gallagher at all. He’s chelsea through and through, was only really looking any good in a mediocre-to-poor palace side.

I accept he’s a had a couple of decent performances for Chelsea this season, but that’s because he’s trying his bloody heart out trying to stay there. It’s his dream.

Someone else please.

That's it, no Europe this season and probably next. Lower TV money last season and this one.

I know their ticket prices are quite high but they don't have the biggest stadium. So it's hard to see their revenue covering their crazy spending in any way.

Apart from the dodgy sponsorship deals, they haven't got enough revenue to cover the costs. Remember Abramovic ran up a billion pound bill for Chelsea basically keeping them afloat.

I think they will probably need to sell ALL the rumored players to stay in line. And even then they might fall foul of FFP next year.

Imo they're desperate to sell Gallagher. Their whole ethos was that while they are challenging the money keeps flowing in, so the early investment was valid, but it hasn't worked out for them.
I really think they're in trouble here.

There is also the problem of the wage bill to income problem that'll pop up.

Good times

About time they got their comeuppance.
I read somewhere that they were paying Cucarela 200,000 a week. Sheer madness. I bet he wasn’t in much more than 20,000 a week at Brighton. It’s the wages that teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, ManU etc pay even average players which will be their undoing as regards PSR.

Conor Gallagher for £50m... or Nusa and Vermeeren for £50m...

Think I know where I'd rather spend the money... 👀
Bit strawman there as AFAIK nobody has said it's a question of one or the other and I don't think Gallagher would be anywhere near £50m anyway.

Said many times in this thread that on Feb 1 he's worth probably £25-30m as players with 1 year left are typically worth 1/2 their 'long contract' value. So IF Chelsea really need the money this window then there's a deal to be done between £30-40m

Football London today had to say about this:
Gallagher, as a homegrown player, is still valuable but perhaps not as much to Tottenham with their strength, especially not as he enters the final knockings of his contract. Instead, it is said that the Lilywhites have turned their attention to Blackburn teenager Adam Wharton.

The 19-year-old has already played over 2,000 league minutes this season for Rovers, starting all but six games in the Championship and only not playing in two of them. At this stage of the year only Archie Gray at Leeds and Jobe Bellingham of Sunderland have more as players under the age of 20.
Wharton has come through the Blackburn academy and played his role last term as well, starting 12 games as an 18-year-old. He has now taken a step on in the midfield under Jon Dahl Tomasson and is attracting plenty of attention.

Everton and Newcastle are said to also be monitoring him despite only signing a new long-term deal at Ewood Park last month. He is now contracted until 2028 but reports suggests might be available for as little as £10 million. Wharton is already an England Under-20 international and has been part of the Three Lions junior pathway for a while.

Homegrown aside, Gallagher would be a downgrade from Hojbjerg.
I genuinely don't think this at all. I think Gallagher is a wonderful footballer. Hojbjerg whilst capable, is too slow on the ball which is something the stats don't show.

totally disagree. Gallagher is twice the football PEH is. I watched Gallagher a lot when he was on loan at Charlton and you could see then he was head and shoulders the best player on the park at such a young age.
