Tottenham Hotspur decided against appointing Erik ten Hag as their replacement for Jose Mourinho, a year before he took the job at Manchester United.

The North London club held talks with then-Ajax manager Ten Hag in the summer of 2021 but he failed to convince the Spurs hierarchy in an underwhelming interview.

Couldn't be bothered to read the article but I read somewhere previously that it was his 'lack of charisma' that failed to convince our board. They got that one spot on. He is like a robot in interviews.

They instead decided to hire Nuno Espirito Santo

Just how underwhelming do you need to be for this to be true?

Thought we might get him and actually thought he might do a decent job! Jeez, am I glad Levy pulled the plug on it pretty sharpish!

I don't understand. The Spurs board was "allegedly" surprised when he only insisted on bringing 1 of his backroom staff rather than all of them, but when Big Ange said he didn't want any of his to come with him, that was encouraging?! If true, that just adds another reason to love him!

I know it's half a joke, but Nuno isn't a terrible manager. And he is (slightly) more charismatic than ETH.

Didn't he just want to bring in different people, give others a chance rather than bring no one, just not the same ones?
