You kind of have to question why it was left to Brennan Johnson to mark TarkowskI on the back post. Someone stronger may have stopped that goal from happening.

Stuff like that is almost more worrying, as it really suggests a lack of adequate planning and organisation.

I'm sorry but this looks like deliberate obstruction to me. The defender is not going for the ball, he's going for the keeper.
No way in my mind that's not a foul.

You're still disagreeing @Sp3akerboxxx ?
Have you not seen the clip that @Blake Griffin has posted as well?

In what possible way is the not a foul on the keeper? It's about as blatant as possible and I can't understand for the life of me why these things suddenly aren't being given.

I liked the way vic dealt with it in the second half. Was a lot more positive and came out to catch a few in a row.

I doubt this will be an issue in the next game and just part of learning the prem.

Is it just because the ref is relying on var picking up on it, while var are relying on the ref picking up on it, thus creating a circle of ineptitude?

Its a foul, wothout a doubt.

Vic can do more to counter these though as we have seen th3se let go recently, but i dont think it will be lookrd at until it hsppens to liverpool or arsenal as they bitch about any bad decision.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll overcome it but I just can't understand how these suddenly aren't being given as fouls because it's a foul anywhere on the pitch, let alone against a keeper in his area.

Yeah, oppo fans used to scream that Kane was a dirty cheat when he'd just stand still against a leaping opponent, let alone actually backing in.

I did wonder if there was a rule change recently as have been seeing it a lot more, not just against us!

Need Jedinak to sort it out. Can't just let any old player, let alone a little shrimp like Harrison, have a free run at the keeper and shove him once he's in the air. Can't just leave Vic to deal with it on his own.

He can deal with it himself though!

tell you what though, anyone seen the last 2 goals arsenal have scored against Liverpool, Allison is one of the very best keepers in the world and probably at fault for both the last 2 goals, way worse that what we are talking about with Vic

Need Romero to have a quiet word in the ear before they decide to get creative

"just standing his ground"

Absolutely zero intention of playing the ball by Harrison.

If an attacker was running toward goal and the defender was not looking at the ball but moved in front of the attacker, they would be running the risk of giving away a penalty for obstruction.

Refs or the law has to be much better.

As @Shanks already noted, GKs are not at a level-playing field so need some advantage, that is taken away if players are allowed to stand in front of them, shove them and stop them from getting to the ball.

Keepers have been a protected species in the modern game. Overly so on so many occasions. If that’s changing, great, but maybe let us know there’s been a rule change. Otherwise, that’s a foul, as clear as day. Just as it has been for years and years. I don’t understand this sudden change in mindset where some refs are going to let this sort of thing go. I’d bet without hesitation there will be similar incidents between now and the end of the season where a foul gets given. It’s bollocks. Standing your ground it one thing, backing into a keeper while he’s jumping is a completely different thing.
