Hes part of the build up play himself though, and most moves break down at his feet.
I don't disagree with that, he has shown he can do it, but clearly not at the level we need. He's one who would be good to keep around on the bench and not a starter. However, no one really did well yesterday, so can't put all the blame on him alone.

Probably spoilt by Kane being able to do everything, with Richy and Son they're really good at certain things but if that isn't working then our game is limited, sometimes we won't know which game will suit either of them through the middle.
Moving the ball that slowly and having no unpredictability out wide won't help either.

Not the required standard if we want to be successful - end of .
Perhaps. But every big club in Europe are scratching around for elite or potentially elite centre forwards around the world as there does not seem to be quite as many around. Now if we manage to sign someone of that ilk then one would probably agree that he may want to leave if the right offer came along. But if we don't and we are in four competitions next season his would be one of the names in the squad I would want left alone.

From the OS video of today's training session, he was not seen.

Purple patch or is he a reliable 15 -20 goals a season player?
Given that his goal scoring run has come after his operation, improved mental outlook, playing in his preferred role in a system that suits him, I think there is reason to believe that he is.

Then it's up to club in the summer to decide whether he will be a starter, squad player or be sold to finance other transfer activity.

Dudes got 9 goals in his last 8 games. He's doing fine.
I think this kind of mentality could hold us back. By watching him play do you think he'll keep up that scoring rate? Will he make the difference in big games? Will he dig us out of a hole when we play badly? Will his game help us to go up a level in our performances? I commend him for recent improvements but I don't see his ceiling as much higher than he's currently playing and the answer to all of those questions is a no for me. I think a RWF and a 9 should be our priority this summer (and back up full backs)

You can go all the way back to when we were first linked, and you'll see I was one of the very very few who never rated him, and that continued until recently. I've been dug out and neg repped to high heaven about RIchie. But I'll call it as I see it, and I see a player giving it the bollocks every game, and has completely turned his form around since his operation. That goal return, and his all round goal involvement, is exactly what you want from the "tip of the spear" role he's playing in this system. What bigger difference do you want?

That's an interesting question to ask of someone who has so many deficiencies for a striker at this level. We're playing a system to suit his skill set, and largely because we have to. He doesn't get involved in the build up so much because his touch, vision or even his hold up play isn't great. He certainly doesn't create his own chances. I think someone who allows us to play a more fluid, dynamic game OR someone more ruthless would be more suited to our team. I don't want to overlook his recent contribution and he's been decent (and also quite anonymous in some games) but going forward I don't think we should view him as a long term solution.

Go back and watch all our goals thus far this season and see how involved he is. Might surprise you.

You're making complaints about last season's Richarlison.

Ange has said we are not a team with match-winning individuals. We need to win as a collective.

What you are asking for is a CF that is above our league. A CF who can 'dig us out when we play badly' is an elite/world-class CF isn't going to join us; we need to nurture someone into it; the same we did with Kane and Son.

I don't think he'd turn his nose up at a match-winning individual. I'd say someone like Toney fits the criteria of someone we could get, although I don't wouldn't want him for other reasons. I'm sure there are others, and most teams in Europe aren't/can't be in the market for them for various reasons.

Every manager wants elite players. We might be able to get toney depending on who we are competing with. But I don’t think he is a match winner: he’s not as good as son and isn’t much better than Richy. I don’t consider him a match winner. Someone who falls in that bracket for me is like Declan rice.
I wouldn’t want toney anyway after the gambling thing.

My main concern is not the goal ratio but the sudden loss of confidence he has. He hasn't looked like a man in form the last 2 games. Happy to keep him as he will have good runs in the team and works hard. I just don't see his performances being consistent enough to be a starter.
