We are 8 points behind City who are fighting for the title.

Yet some are worried about United who we are 8 ahead of.

Lots of people massively underestimate how difficult it is for a chasing team to make up 6,7,8 points. It’s not just a matter of winning a few matches, it usually needs consistency over a period of 10 matches or more, even if the chased team loses a few.

Can’t see Liverpool not going on to win it from here. I think they can even afford to lose one and draw one as can’t see City or the arse winning out.

It's a funny coincidence that all 3 of them each have to play both us and Villa before the end of the season. There's still lots of potential movement within this top 5, never mind all of the teams' other matches.

Code:

I think United's max achievable now is about 65 points, and to even get that they need an average of 2 ppg through the rest of the run in which is highly unlikely given that they're on 1.65 ppg so far this season. To go that bit better will require a huge upturn in their form that is possible but not realistic.

Three more wins gets us to 65, that will see us finish above them.

Given how much better we are than them it will be abject failure to finish below utd. In fact I've seen enough to know we're better than villa too but Emery has a more pragmatic style of football than ange and we're too frequently on the end of a draw or loss despite being the better team. High-risk, high reward football punished for the high risk. It's still a great watch, though.

At some stage, it will click for us. Perhaps with the pacy front 3 of son Johnson werner. A lot is dependent on bissouma finding his early season form, though. Otherwise, we'll need a world class 6.

That game was the Premier League at it's worst. Terrible advert for the league from two of the top teams and a reminder that far too many players are labelled "world class" far too easily.

When City won in 2012, with 6 games to go Man Utd top(Ferguson manager) with City 8 pts behind.
City won all 6 for 18pts , Utd W3 D1 L2.. 10pts . City won on goal diff.
One of those defeats was away to Wigan, totally unexpected. Chasing teams just have to win 5 or 6 in a row and see where it takes them. If we win 5 in a row we will be 4th. No doubt.

You're answering your own question here a bit. Who's more likely to lose an 8-point advantage? Us or City? Overwhelmingly us.

In both cases, I suspect City will not be caught by us under any circumstances, and it's unlikely a poor United would do enough even if we did have a bad run.

We've got tough fixtures coming up, but United also have some. So it'll be very disappointing if 5th isn't our floor for this season's finish, which is a very solid start for Ange.
Yeah my point wasn't that we will catch City.

That isn't gonna happen.

And you are right that we'd more likely throw up a 10 point lead but the point I was making is that if people don't except us to catch City then why do some think United will catch us?

Looking at poss dates for Chelsea City games.
Apr 3. PL games
Apr 10….Champ Lge
Apr 17….Champ Lge
Apr 24…City and Chelsea playing pp games.
May 1…..Champ Lge
May 8..Champ Lge
May 15…At last, a date when we can play.

If city progress in CL only date is May 15. As it stands we will have to play one of these games in a European week. Poss on a Thursday as it would only be against Europa and Conference. Believe they have to pay a fine if they put tv games against euro comps.
Thought the club would be pushing to get a date for these games.

United flatter to deceive , got through the cup tie as they just threw caution to the wind and got away with it. Looked absolute garbage at Brentford. Liverpool will prob hammer them at the weekend.
Just rely on a bit of magic to win a game. They are not catching us.

Yeah Liverpool will want to ensure they kill United off and don't let them get back into the game like the FA Cup.

I actually think if Liverpool win their next 2 they will could be well in the driving seat.

They haven't really had many hiccups this season bar the Arsenal game.

Just lost 2 and one was when they had 9 men and we had VAR in our team. I hope they can do it . Doing ok considering they have just one of their first choice back 4 and kpr.
There is never a mention of Arsenals luck with injuries. They have 8 who have played almost every game. Same as last season till Saliba got injured and they fell apart.

People give out to Klopp but if the top of the league's going to be Arteta vs Pep then the league's going to be much less entertaining.

Liverpool fans are annoying whether they win or lose. Would much rather they won it than the oil cheats and Klopp at least seems like a decent human being.

Football would be unbearable if Arteta and his clowns won the league.

If there was only a way none of them could win. But I think for me city winning will cause less gloating from fans than Liverpool or arsenal. Plus if city then get done for FFP it also means all ones they have won are tainted also.

Klopp is a decent human being in a non competitive environment, I don't think there should be any doubt about that and he's far more authentic in "the real world" than Pep and especially Arteta seem to be. He's as big a **** as any of them in a competitive match environment though.
