Anything can happen in a derby etc but on current form, we're going to get a proper trouncing from them. We are still stumbling around looking for our mojo which we lost in November.

If they're going to win it (which they're not), they can fuck off if they think they're getting a guard of honour if they clinch it before playing us and they can also fuck off if they think they're winning it at our place. They're not going to win it though, so it's fine.
Neither of those things can happen.

And we'll beat them anyway so no panic there either.

The annoying thing is that they will look at the end scoreline and say well that penalty wasn't important anyway.
But that first goal in a game is massive.

Be interesting to hear how Howard Webb and all the other VAR apologists talk their way out of that one.
If the same situation happens to us tomorrow are you saying its not a penalty?

Trouncing? Have you seen how they play? Once they score they just sit back and defend and hit on the counter as teams pump more men forward. It’s really awful to watch! Kind of sick of it. Will probably lose 1-0. Not trounced.

Yep.

Arsenal gain great control of the game and don't have to exert too much energy in trying to make a through or equalise. They can manage the game.

I do hope my pessimism is misplaced.

Nah we'll be well up for it I think. Will be a high scoring game for both teams if I had to guess.

The fact this has 4 agrees is hurting my dick.

We've done really well v teams who have come and tried to play against us.

Hang your heads in shame, have some faith in our club for fuck sake.

Arsenal win. Results that affect us is more important than whether or not arsenal get points.
Very noble of you.

I, on the other hand, would take 5th right now if it meant Arsenal didn’t win the league. I will always choose personal disappointment over seeing those bastards happy.

The Lamptey penalty was such an obvious stone-wall penalty it beggars belief that there's so much belly aching in here about it. Some of that is bug-eyed Spurs bias, but a lot of it is the distorting effect that VAR is having on the game. When normally sensible posters on here are raving about 'disgusting' and 'joke' decsions that are so plainly correct, you see more evidence of how distorting VAR is. It was such an easy call to make in real time, the ref nearly choked on his whistle when giving it. And easy to see on replays that he made no mistake to award it.

Jesus was running at pace inside the box into a dangerous position. He cut inside and Lamptey was about to take a seat. There was a tiny clip of the ball by lamptey that didn't change the direction of the ball, so Jesus would have been able to take advantage of his bit of skill. Meanwhile, as Lamptey is finding his ass, he takes Jesus out. Clear, obvious, easy decision. And yet the couch referees here go on about how "he got the ball" and other nonsense. So weird, and such a silly place we're headed if even obvious decisions like this up for debate in refereeing circles.

VAR affects how players behave and how fans and watchers perceive the rules and the game is going in the wrong direction as a result. Players behaviour is already changing to accommodate this, and that will continue to evolve in such a way as there will be a set of tactics for games covered by VAR and different tactics/behaviourial instructions for games without VAR. It'll be a different game among divisions with and without resources for VAR for every match.

And then more VAR related nonsense to incorrectly disallow Wolves equaliser, which was another obvious goal that is distorted into an arguable situation followed by a wrong decision. Awful, awful stuff.

We'll be better off when VAR is fucked in the bin and we just have tech for goal lines and offside.
