    Race for the Top 4 - 2018/19

Update..after round 25 The (expected) ‘top 6’ are judged against the following ridiculously high expectation: they will win ALL home games; they will win all away games – except those against ‘top 6’ rivals, which they will lose. That would give a total of 105 points. As the season progresses a...

    Race for the Top 4 - 2018/19

Neither team gets any plus or minus for that. Chelsea at home are expected to win; Arsenal as the away team at a top six rival are expected to lose.

Match Ratings Ratings vs West Ham

Kane and Verts excellent, Davies as per usual better than his general credit-rating. Love the way he pops up at centre forward at least once a game when- and only when- his primary defensive duties allow. But MOM, increasingly MO every M was Eriksen. Watch and enjoy. A great player on great form.

    Riyad Mahrez

Putting aside any thoughts about could we, should we sign him, I love watching the guy when he´s on the ball: he´s sharp, graceful, captivating and you always feel you´re half a second away from seeing something special. So should we try for him? (50 million, as if...) His main problem seems...

    Player watch: Danny Rose

I´m not even sure his own logic stands up to scrutiny 1. I´m good enough to win major trophies and should be paid as such 2. Spurs, myself included, are not good enough to win major trophies 3. Unless we sign superstars x and y Which boils down to, it´s actually superstars x and y that are...

    Ratings vs Chelsea

Eriksen was fantastic. Scribbles in the rich boy's notebooks fantastic. God, I hope we can keep this team together. Trying to be positive - easier in the light of a strictly observed 'no drinking if we blow it' regime - and ignoring the beyond-coincidence shadow of seven semi final defeats in...

The Spurs Youth Thread – 2016/2017

Thanks for digging those out. Interesting - and encouraging - that we take the relative age effect into account at Spurs - certainly as far as our u18 squad is concerned the squad is relatively evenly distributed. And moving away from facts and figures into the murky world of my own perceptions...

The Spurs Youth Thread – 2016/2017

Here is the month information graphically. (Maybe. If can figure out how to attach an image!) Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to log the full birthdates including year if that´s what you were after.

The Spurs Youth Thread – 2016/2017

Different aims for different clubs I suspect; a varying blend of producing first team players and schooling enough others well enough to be moved on at a profit. Chelsea may be an exception in that they have little need of the former right now, so are more skewed to the latter - maybe something...

The Spurs Youth Thread – 2016/2017

I suspect this has been done to death over the years, but after seeing the phrase “men against boys” a few times when reading about the u18´s anhiliation at the hands of Chelsea, I thought I´d check the birth dates of the respective squads. The well known theory is that, the world over, elite...

    Ratings vs Everton

Thought everyone played well, subs included. Special plaudits to Harry (of course), Busy Ben Davies and non slip, missile mode Jan. And Christian Eriksen for, as usual, acting as half the team's attacking eyes. Thoroughly deserved to get to 2 0 up, but then fell into that awkward space between...

    Ratings vs Chelsea

Magnificent. Still basking in that the evening after. 8's all round, 9's for action man Victor and deadly Dele. Can we stop calling him a midfielder yet? If he's a midfielder then Gareth Bale's a left back. He's an attacker, a co-striker, the two of of the two in an old fashioned four-four-two...

    Ratings vs Southampton

Southampton are a good side and were bound to have a strong spell at some point - it just so happened it was the first ten minutes. They were lifted by the goal - and was it just me, or did that look nailed-on the moment the free kick was lined up - then proceeded to run us ragged and were full...
