    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

There are certain posters in here who like to...ahem...twist the truth when it comes to making a point and this fellow has done it quite a bit recently. From inventing Poch's starting 11, to claiming that Ange has already spent £250m, to claiming that Walker didn't want to leave and was forced...

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

...he wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the season. Also, you haven’t included Dembele, who made more PL appearances that season (26) than Capoue (12). Lamela was super highly rated when we bought him the season before. He also made over 30 appearances for Poch that season too. I think...

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

I do agree that Poch's overachievement is sort of ignored for some reason, but I don't think that lessens the work and relative overachievement that Ange has done. Besides, the height of Poch was 16/17, which was two years after coming in. That was when things looked collected and precise...

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

...To compare this squad and situation, to Pochettinos Sherwood and half the squad revolt situation, then that is insane revisionism for me. Lloris Naughton Kaboul Dier Rose Capoue Bentaleb Lennon Eriksen Lamela Adebayor But honestly. How many of those would make it into our starting eleven?

...today is vastly superior to the squad that Poch inherited. Poch first 11 on opening day: Lloris; Naughton, Dier, Kaboul (C), Rose; Bentaleb, Capoue; Lennon, Eriksen, Lamela; Adebayor Ange first 11 on opening day: Vicario, Emerson, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Bissouma, Skipp, Kulusevski, Maddison...

    2023/24 - The Race For..................

We’re doing the same now with the VDV, Udogie, Sarr and Johnson. All those players you mentioned from the Poch era had a decent amount of men’s football under their belt. Donley and Dorrington haven’t made a single appearance between them and Phillips has 18 championship appearances and wasn’t...

    2023/24 - The Race For..................

Oh no, obviously it’s unlikely to happen. I just hark back to the time Poch had Mason and Bentaleb in midfield. Kane up top, Townsend, Dier. All were super young, and got their chance over more established players like Kaboul, Capoue, Adebayor etc who didn’t suit Poch’s style

    Mauricio Pochettino

...see what he had and needed. Who was on board, who fit his system etc. If we had have brought in 10 new players and had Poch been forced to make all the previous signings work (Capoue, Soldado, Paulinho) I think he would have struggled. Its hard to find the balance with so many players to...

The Daily ITK Discussion Thread - 10th August

Yeah I don't think its that bad. Chiriches, Paulinho, Soldado and Capoue were all a disaster and none of those we brought in have been that bad or I see being that bad. There are unquestionably holes in the group though

Player Watch Player Watch - Lucas Moura

...him, sao paulo haven't one much lately but great club, will the curse of spurs players winning a trophy after leaving continue, off the top of my head includes, walker, foyth, lamela, toby, verts, eriksen, paulinho, capoue, bale, nkoudou, janssen, hart, vinicius, gollini, ndombele, gil, lo celso

    Harry Kane

Yeah but they're all players we either put up for sale or used as part of a swap, I'm talking about players in their prime (who we'd have been perfectly happy to keep) that big clubs came in for with offers we'd have been daft to refuse. This just feels like Kane is more concerned about being...

    Harry Kane

Are there any players that have not won something after leaving Spurs? Gazza maybe.

    Harry Kane

They all did win something though, Capoue, Foyth Lamela and quite a few more have won something since they left

And with different tactics some of those players possibly start better, don't lose confidence and end up being good signings. This time around we seem to have a coach that will create plenty of chances for midfielders and forwards.

    Harry Kane

It was my favourite window. Trouble is only some signings actually come good. That's why you want a handful so you end up with 2 or 3 quality ones out of it. Thankfully our squad is better this time compared to then so only need a few of our signings to be great with the players we already have...

...young player. We then added Eriksen and Chadl, Champions League players who were improvements on what we had. The only real punts we took were Capoue (who ended up being a more than decent Premier League midfielder, post-Spurs) and that mad-lad, Vlad. We don’t talk about him. Overall, not...

    Harry Kane

Lamela too much injured, and was already missing his two hips. Paulinho didnt seem like he had any. Chadli was good though! Vlad, Capoue and Soldado. I dont want to start on them. But I hope we'll have more success on the pitch we our players after Kane.
