I’m not sure we would know if ENIC are entertaining bids for the club.
You reference Modric, Bale and Berba - they were all great prospects but not the stars they became which is the way you position them i.e. Bale was not one of the greatest LW on earth when we bought him?
My point was Sugar...
Under Sugar we signed possibly the best striker in the world in Klinsmann and two stars of the World Cup that year in Popescu and Dumi. All in ONE window. ENIC have remodelled the club for their own gain - every penny for the stadium is either debt against the club or paid for out of profits...
Jules 77 - why the WTF rating. My logic is it
too much cash in successive windows and is based on 20 years+ of frugal ENIC behaviour. What’s your rationale of thing this is worthy of a WTF which suggests it is almost incomprehensible to think that way?
Yes I am aware of this but the cynic in me wasn’t surprised it fell through. Like the time we were apparently bidding for all and sundry ie augero when he was in Spain and came away empty handed
There is no chance we are getting him sadly. Our rumoured interest only strengthens Sporting’s negotiating hand and also gives Spurs fans something to hang onto, which suits Levy as it keeps the fans at bay. His record is phenomenal and we will regret this. But it’s a non-starter as circa 20...
We drew 0-0 but your point is valid.
No evolution of the squad.
Won nothing when all the big clubs at some point were in regression / transition. Our opportunity has been and gone with this Manager.
We are terrible to watch.
Players have stopped playing for Poch.
Whether we like it or not...
Away at Everton next and we look completely bereft of confidence somehow. 5 points behind united in only 3 games and perennial problem of Kane not scoring in August. It doesn't matter what Poch says we have a problem at Wembley. Our record there vs at WHL tells us that. Very frustrating...
I think it looks like Danny Rose who has made these comments, which is poor.
However I just don't see him leaving the club as if he does Poch will follow next summer for sure.
We all berate Levy (I'm a classic example) but even he wouldn't play Russian roulette with Poch?
If DR does go then...
This could be one of the most rounded comments I've read on this site. Life is great bring a Yid now. I remember the early 90s and all I can say is 'wow' by comparison...
That's my point. It's not about who has left more that the cash has not been utilised elsewhere in what will be a demanding season. However Mason player 1,900 minutes last season I believe which is just over 21 games. We will need to rotate and lack depth to do so effectively....
I'm sadly not surprised...
Current transfer window (inc Townsend from last Jan where Spurs bought no one):
£5m Yedlin
£3m (post loan) Fazio
£12m Townsend
£13m Chadli
£17m (post loan) Bentelab
£13m Mason
£9m Pritchard
£72m
Vs
£17m Jannsen
£11m Victor W
£11m Nkoudou
£5m (post loan) Lopez
£44m...
Agree but expectations are allowed to change as the season unfolds so finishing behind arse would represent failure given we have only taken 2 points from last 9...
A very meek ending to the season - 2 points in last 3 games and in each game we have been leading. Our defence has become porous again and the lack of genuine cover for Ali & Dembele exposes the weakness of our squad. This must be addressed in the window. I have no confidence against Newcastle...
