Why is it laughable? Porro wants to play in a cup final, jeopardising a very lucrative move because he wants to help his team win a trophy. To me, that’s not laughable, but laudable. And we can hardly stop him as he ain’t our player (yet ?).
Perhaps I’m giddy from all the positive transfer news, but I’m pretty certain The Goat’s opening post - literally just a second ago - was a cryptic, but it’s been edited. Did anyone else see it?
If he was available, surely another club would be in for him above us? I am trying to delude myself otherwise, but really - if we're being truly honest with ourselves - we'd never be in the running for this sort of transfer.
Crickey this is looking bleak. No Martial. No mystery overseas player. And Zaha very unlikely. I'm a natural optimist, but this looks like it's going to be a disastrous window.
I'm a keen follower of this thread. Thanks to all of those who contribute.
What is the story with @Spursidol? Is he forum weary of has something (hopefully not awful) happened to him?
Maybe it's that the pics focus on more prominent members of the squad? The vast majority of gettypics seems to be of Dele and Dier randomly cuddling, Lloris looking wistful and immaculately coiffured, Son laughing at apparently nothing, Kane lining up a shot from 46 yards - stuff like that...
Excuse my ignorance, but that's actually good news - no? It means he's out for the season, but we're not looking at a LONG recovery like it would be for ligament damage. Two / three months. Something like that?
That was my initial feeling. No doubt it's a very serious injury. And no doubt something like this can be life-threatening. But there's no detail to back up the very dramatic headline.
From The Mirror:

Awful. Hope he pulls through.
This is undoubtably very shit news given his rep in the game and working relationship with Poch, but let's wait for the full story to come out before collective suicide.
These are meant to be BOLD predictions, right?
1) West Ham relegated, and finish bottom, in their inaugural season in the Olympic Stadium.
2) Sir Alex (with G-Nev as his assistant) to take over as care-taker manager after Jose resigns after the January window. The Special One cites "not enough...
Turns out trying to be "realistic" actually means "pessimistic". We have a nasty run in. I see us winning the next three (including against Arse), but only two in the last seven.
Miserable now....
Ban yourself for ITK bashing!
My interpretation of this tidbit is that the transfer is done in principle and the arguments are the final little niggles ('though the niggles could, theoretically, scupper the whole thing...) So, actually, I don't know if this is good news or bad news. I'm gonna...
