The Daily ITK Discussion Thread - 20th August 2021

Seems slightly odd given what we’ve been hearing about Paratici’s plan and methods to then go and blow a huge wedge of our budget (at an inflated cost) on a player picked by our manager, who although having worked with him before it would be a hard sell to argue he had him thriving and pulling...

Completely agree, some seemed so concerned with the coefficient if we sack it off, getting a bit ahead of themselves there in my opinion, let’s not worry too much about it until we actually qualify for the champs league which won’t happen if we go deep in this pointless comp.

Yep, I know and I get that I’m just saying I don’t think if we stay in this we even get top 4. Plus being in pot 3 or 4 isn’t something players consider when signing for a champs league club is it. We be back in cl attracting better players. We’ve got out of tough groups before.

I’d love to agree mate but just see it as a big distraction. Need to be bang on it to compete with the likes of pool, United and the money of city and Chelsea.

I just don’t think ‘building our coefficient’ and ending up finishing 7th again is worthwhile. Let’s focus on getting top 4. No need to be condescending about it mate.

Think disaster is a bit strong. I do understand your point I just disagree. Think we need to focus on getting back into that comp first.

Maybe not physically, but distracting and disruptive of training and game preparation for first team players.

I get that but surely not being in this joke of a comp gives us way more prep time for league fixtures. It’s the only way we compete for top 4 with likes of city, etc.

Calm down people. Going out of this is a blessing. Focus on the league and a domestic cup. This tournament is a joke and a massive distraction.

either way, not comfortable in it. Doherty on for Rodon/Sanchez and switch it to a 4 and push Siss into mid surely.

Has to change it! ineffective wingbacks, look uneasy as a back 3

I know, FFS. I honestly don't know where to begin with this shit. Its so obvious! Not comfortable as a back 3, cant get ball into strikers at all. We have no style no philosophy under Jose, it seems to be an attempted pragmatic approach to every game to try and win it, chopping and changing and...

Shape completely wrong for this selection, baffling. Overrun in midfield.

It's a fair enough point you make, but what were their passing options? Kane and Son. At home to a team in the relegation zone with that line up? So negative and defensive. All of the bashing of players on here is desperate, its the system and selection. If they don't have attacking options how...

    Jose Mourinho

My issue with the whole thing boils down to the fact I cannot tell how he wants us to play. What is the philosophy? It's so disjointed. I honestly think since he's come in there have been a handful of half decent periods of games but i'd struggle to single out many games we were on it for the...

Just when you think Aurier could be decent... Got 2 howlers in him a game and horrendous decision making.

    Player watch: Christian Eriksen

I think i'd probably agree, money would go straight into bringing in Bruno Fernandes in Jan or next summer i suppose.

Would you rather a) have him this year and lose on a free next year b)let him go now for 40mil?

    Player watch: Danny Rose

I don't see why we are so happy to let him go for 20m, given we've got nobody near his standard at LB or have been linked to anybody near his standard yet we seemed resigned to it. I agree its probably about him and his mental health but i'll be gutted to see him go.

    Player watch: Danny Rose

But it just seems having finished the season so well for us and at 29 why take such a cut in playing standard with a move to someone like Everton? It just doesn't happen that often in football, you'd think he'd be keen to kick on with us next season seeing what we are doing in the market.
