For this reason alone, I hope we and any other team doesn't help Chelsea out of the situation they're in.
I hope they face a worthy punishment for their spending year after year.
I imagine the add ons are performance related, such as, number of appearances, CL qualification, etc. So if we hit these add ons, it means the signing has worked out well and there's good value for the €50m. Hopefully the guaranteed figure isn't too high.
I haven't been able to watch many other teams games throughout the course of the season but I happened to watch a few of Fulham's matches as the season drew to a close and he really stood out. I wondered if a bigger club would be interested in him.
Physically big and strong, good in the air...
Agreed and its pure incompetence from Levy that we're in this situation.
With regards to whether players will wait, I really don't know. I guess it depends on who the other offers are from and how good the offer is. As the season has only just ended and the window is not open yet, I would hope...
I'm not suggesting "who's cheap and available" is the way of assembling a squad.
If you read my previous posts, I was saying that the club employ a scouting department and irregardless of the current situation, they should be continuing their job of looking at players and making...
You could say the same about all our squad though. He might not rate them and they might not get used.
With no transfer fee and rumoured relatively low wages, the club might feel the risk is affordable with huge potential upside.
If he were to sign for another PL club, scoring bags of goals...
The point is though that the club should, in my opinion, be working on potential deals, ready to put to the new manager when he's appointed. There's nothing at the moment to suggest that new players will be signed beforehand.
If there is to be a limited budget then surely a transfer like this...
I can understand Trix's point about perceived board signings without a manager/DOF being appointed.
However, the club have a scouting department in place and they can't sit around twiddling their thumbs until a manager/DOF has been decided and a plan put into place. There's still a massive job...
Thanks for the reply. It's incredible that the loan amount wasn't added to the sale price and seized by the government. The loan clearly added assets to the clubs and thus increased the value. How can a club get away with such an unfair advantage without repercussions and why wouldn't all the...
My older brothers' took me to a game in the early 90's (93 I think) and after the match we went to their local. Paul Moran came in. Spurs had just won and he had come on for the last few minutes at right back.
I remember them chatting and he joked that he was glad he didn't have to mark Ryan...
I think it's probably the modern era of football that is adding to the disconnect of fans. The commercialisation, ticket prices, KO times, transfer fees, player wages, agents, VAR, 24 hour coverage of repeated nonsense, social media "banter?" and media celebration of financially doped clubs...
