As if fans of any team wouldn't get a huge buzz from winning in that fashion. Yes, it was a game we were expected to win, but to win when you were 1 down that late in the game is really rare and feels awesome, no matter the opposition.
Definitely agree he is still bowling really well and could easily go on at the top level for a couple more years, but I completely get it from his point of view for a lot of reasons. Will be sorely missed though. Always loved his competitive edge as well.
Personally don't think they should. We have little to gain and a lot to lose if one of them gets pinned by Starc with the new ball. The draw is useless to us anyway and it sounds like we'll lose a bit of play Monday. If Australia score 377, fair play to them, but personally I don't think they will.
"We have more news...
The pitch inspection will be at 12:15 BST. The players are then going to take lunch at 12:20 so we won't have play before 13:00."
Why not just take lunch now??
I think someone also made the point as the fielding side you can control the pace of the game more. You can bet the Aussie’s would be taking their time to get through their overs on Sunday with us chasing down 200 quickly.
We’ll never know for sure what happens if they don’t declare first day. I seem to remember there were very few overs left day 5, so they might have run out of time anyway. We’ve absolutely cost ourselves with poor fielding at times too. But there will always be things like this that either side...
It’s going to be gutting if the weather decides the destination of the ashes and we are robbed of a 2-2 decider at the Oval, which feels like it would be a fitting end to a brilliant series.
They really need to find some technology to show these catches properly. In my view that was out, but it's always the same, the replay makes it really unclear and then the batsmen has to get the benefit of the doubt.
Think you’re right and it won’t change, but the issue for me is Bairstow got all his runs last summer at #5 with Foakes also in the team as the keeper. Now because Brook did so well at 5 in the winter we’ve dropped Foakes to get both him and Bairstow in the team, but we’ve sacrificed a world...
They have improved but I am really bitter about how much luck Arsenal have had over the last month. Playing teams who could barely field 11 players and now getting to play City having had their mid-week game cancelled when City played just a few days ago.
As a keeper sure, but he still averages more in tests than anyone but Stokes and Root, I’d keep him as our number 6. I am convinced he would have a similar record to Prior if he was around then, he’s just constantly coming in at 50/5 because of our pathetic top order.
