We have a word to describe those types of people here in the states. We can them NIMBYs. Which stands for "not in my back yard".
For example the twin cities here is trying to expand our light rail system and nimbys who don't even live next to the planned track are coming out in droves with...
It's also worth mentioning that the two recently built stadiums in New York (Citi Field [New York Mets] and Barclay's Center [Brooklyn Nets & New York Islanders]) both recieved around $20 million a year in naming rights. Minneapolis, while still a large market pales in comparison to New York or...
The Minnesota Vikings just sold the naming rights for their new stadium. US Bank bought it for $220 million for a 25 year deal, or $8.8 million a year. That would be £5.66 million a year or £141.44 million total.

For some reason, that Lille stadium reminded me of this ridiculous plan a few years back to turn the dilapidated Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit into 3 stadiums in one. Here is a cross section of the stadium plan
The top level was to be an open air football pitch. Underneath was to be split...
The new Vikings stadium doesn't have a retractable roof. It was brought up in preliminary discussions, but the Wilf's didnt want to pony up an additional $200 million for it so it was dropped. There are giant doors that can swing open to make the air feel less stuffy, but that is it.
I'm sure something along the lines of Deflategate, Ray Rice/Adrian Peterson Scandals, Johnny Football, possibly even Brett Favre will pop up to overtake it soon if it was announced.
They installed the old Astroturf at that stadium in the 70s and when injury concerns came up, they tried reverting back to grass but because it was below grade and already so close to the water table the grass was a consistent problem there as well.
Not sure what you mean by height. Height as in total height of the entire stadium? Or height from the playing field to the first row? If its the latter, then yes most american football stadiums have a higher gap between the first row and the playing field.
If its the former that's not...
I've stated it before, but Populous did a really good job with the Minnesota Twin's new stadium.

One of the issues is the location, it is literally right next to 2 highways, a train line and a light rail station and they managed to fit an 40,000 seater...
Again you can't really invest in a farm system, other then getting better coaches to help develop talent. I can't really comment on that end of it because I really don't know the farm system of the dodgers all to well. But they have has a fair amount of really good players cone through it...
Puig wasn't exactly a farm system / academy player. He was a known Cuban player that had to get smuggled out of Cuba and defect to the the US to play. Once in the US the dodgers paid him a good sum and he spent less then one year in the minor leagues before playing for the dodgers. Most farm...
Yes and no, they took over within the last two years and won their division and they got to the national league championship series last year but lost in 6 games. The NLCS is kind of like the champions league semi finals. It's the championship game for the national league, with the winner going...
Some more info on the dodgers. After the Guggenheim group bought they went from perennial almosts to title contenders. They have best pitching staff in the majors, with very good batters. For those unfamiliar with baseball pitchers are very important to winning, if not more important than...
