    Terry Medwin

Another one of the greats gone. I shall never forget that cup final in 1962. RIP Terry.

    Joe Kinnear has died

Kinnear and Knowles, that was a good pairing, for ten years. Hard to imagine these days. And they won a FA Cup, two League Cups and a UEFA Cup. Sadly that is hard to imagine these days as well. RIP Joe.

    Unsung Tottenham hero players

Thanks. I had a vague recollection something happened. All my recollections are a bit vague these days😳.

    Unsung Tottenham hero players

It is my recall as well. But when I look, in 10 years Joe played 200 games for us. In 12 years Cyril played 400 games for us. Am I right in thinking Joe had a bad injury?

    R.I.P Terry Venables

    Unsung Tottenham hero players

He was. But in sides with such good players he was a bit overshadowed. Even his fellow fullback was better known. I did think of naming Peter Baker instead but he really wasn’t unsung.

Match Threads Crystal Palace vs Spurs - Day 10 - 27th October 8:00pm

Two of the greats. But then I would say that wouldn’t I?

    Harry Kane

Jennings - best goalkeeper I have ever seen Ledders - the King John White - nearest to genius before Hoddle Cliff Jones - best Welsh winger to play for us but yeh, Hoddle, that season in the second division, he was only 19 and he carried us back into the first division and we only just made it...

….and my secret second team is….

Snap. I went to the Lane when I could afford it and Loakes Park when I couldn't.

    When Hoddle went to Chelsea

I admit to getting old but my recollection is that Hoddle left Monaco mid season with a knee injury. He needed to go somewhere for rehab and that somewhere was Chelsea. He didn’t play for them but he did his recovery there. Did he ask to do it with us, did we offer him the chance? No idea.

He must be very old if he remembers a Tommy Smith playing for us. Does he mean Tommy Harmer or Bobby Smith I wonder?

Steve Perryman: Harry Kane is a wonderful player but Jimmy Greaves was a genius

Alcohol was a thing then too. A teetotal Greaves would have gone on longer.

Pat Jennings is made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE)

I shook hands with him once, long after he retired. His hands were huge. And could he kick a football. Remember the goal in the charity shield?

Mackay, Greaves and Jennings are my next three.

Hoddle. And that is from someone who became a supporter in 1961.

    Maurice Norman

Another one gone. RIP big man. How we could do with one like you today.

    Nostalgia thread

It takes great players to do things like that. He was one. He died nearly 60 years ago. I am still upset about it.

Which Spurs players would you describe as being ‘genius’?

I was away on holiday when he died. We bought a newspaper and all it merited was a small footnote which I missed the first time through. Today it would be front page news. It ruined the holiday. I was miserable for the rest of it. My favourite player dead,
