Look, WHU won its first ever trophy in 1964. Until then it was mostly a second division club and even since then that's where it's spent loads and loads of time. It's always got much smaller gates, and when it's bothered being in the same division, has usually lost the lion's share of matches...
It's a bit like all this stuff about Spurs being hated. That depends very much on who you mix with. At my age and still playing regularly in my 50s, and having a broad love and enthusiasm for the the game, along with a skepticism for what the press writes; I don't come across many hate Spurs...
It may well be their job to ask questions, but it isn't their job to publish the questions without the answers, nor to insinuate answers they haven't uncovered. Furthermore, if they are asking questions, they might inform us why the questions are significant, and explain why and how one answer...
Interesting though that, Carr suddenly found himself on the halfway line closed down by Hudd, and with Pav on his heels. That's with just seconds left. The error was forced, and once it had happened it was exploited swiftly and ruthlessly. It was the kind of goal we've given away countless times...
Dixon's fine. he said both Defoe and keane might have had a hatful, and was quite clear we were the better team. So he's got reservations about our defence when it comes to playing the really top teams. Fair comment. Certainly not a bitter gunner in any respect.
Even Keown's not too bad...
The good thing is though, that he will be fully match fit for the next 4 months or so, ready to come back if needed. I wonder if that's part of the logic of such a move.
When Robinson was our most creative player, relying on the big boot upfield, Defoe and Keane were always going to find it a bit difficult, particularly as there was no-one to put the ball craftily ito their feet, but things have changed. Anyway, there have been instances when it has worked in...
Green light to drinking, red light to getting drunk. Very sensible policy. I want players at Spurs to be treated like adults. What's the point of having any other policy?
Hate's an emotion, and emotions can be embarassing and misleading. I hold them in utter contempt for what they have always stood for. Such a contrast with the Spurs. Contempt is so much more meaningful that hatred.
A lot of people think Spurs' modern traditions started with Billy Nick. He might be the greatest, but the tradition started with Arthur Rowe. I came across this and thought it would be good to share...

That goal against Manu is better than anything I've seen from George Best, and Jimmy scored so very many others like it. The greatest British player I've seen, so that goes back 40+ years.
Mind you, have you ever seen video of Stanley Matthews? Remarkable agility. Some of those old players had...
Spurs are the quintessential "sleeping giant", and have been for the best part of a century. When Spurs won the second division championship in 1950 they did so with the highest average gates in the country, and the general feeling in the footballing world was why on earth had it taken this long...
When I was growing up in the 60s there were four "Golden Boys" of British football - Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, George Best and Jimmy Greaves. Strange, but Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst were further down the list, if only just. And the consensus in those days was that Jimmy Greaves was the best...
