Pochettino's Spurs: A Tactical analysis of our season

Really astute analysis. I love the evidence based approach you adopt discussing tactics. Please keep writing these articles!

    My pieces

I really enjoy your tactical reports. It's definitely interesting to read a detailed match analysis evidenced with diagrams etc. You're the spurscommunity's very own Gary Neville! Keep them coming!

    Ferdinand, Dembele, and Real Madrid

It sounded as though it was being used as a motivational tool ie this is how good you could be Moussa. Ridiculous to suggest management were busy pushing players away from the club. How would that possibly be in their interest?

    Kyle Walker

What makes you think he's had an inguinal hernia repair. The duration of his problems prior to having surgery wouldn't suggest a simple hernia was causing it surely? Also unless he's suffering post-op complications I'd expect some light training by now.

    Walker's had surgery.

Because he's a human being not just a bit of meat to be treated at the club's convenience. You or I have no idea what the problem is, what the likely complications and prognosis are. These need to be weighed up before cutting someone up. Some of you are painfully ignorant about risks of...

    Rating vs Liverpool

I agree. All 3 goals Capoue is guilty of terrible play. Not that the rest of the bunch were much better today. Was desperately disappointed with Lamela's contribution.

Sherwood: Spurs have been watching Eric Dier for years

Sherwood actually credits Ramsey with pressing the hierarchy to sign Dier but don't let your prejudice stand in the way of that.

Assessing Pochettino's pre-season: Tactics & Player Management vs Seattle

Great thread Luke, look forward to future analysis of actual competitive fixtures!

    Lamela

No it just shows how superstitious players are. Hence the readiness to try wacky pointless treatments like horse placenta etc. If they recovered before they'll keep going back to the same people. Equally they'll fly around the world visiting 'specialists ' on recommendations of other players.

    New Sporting Director?

Well that second paragraph is certainly surprising...I did not know that!

Why's Sandro not playing If he's fit???

Innocent yes but still stupid. His manager has to then justify the comment to the media.

Why's Sandro not playing If he's fit???

Yeah I agree about the tactics side of things. I'm not a fan. I'd prefer somebody with a 4-3-3 high tempo attacking philosophy preferably LVG. Thing is most of the abuse Tim gets is nothing to do with that.

Why's Sandro not playing If he's fit???

Not if he leaves in the summer it won't. I think the new manager will be rather pleased that they've been shaken up a bit and told to fight for their places and futures by Tim.

Why's Sandro not playing If he's fit???

Why wouldn't a good manager say that? Asking him to up his level in training to match his teammates isn't sacrilege in my opinion. His comments are justified. If sandro is stupid enough to tweet that then he should man up when Sherwood explains why he didn't select him. Why is everyone so...

Why's Sandro not playing If he's fit???

Totally agree. I'm quite ambivalent towards Tim. I've really been put off this site recently because every thread is hijacked by vitriolic comments about Sherwood. Some of the tantrums over Sherwood's media comments are just embarrassing. Have these lot heard some of the crap mourinho, Wenger...

    Lamela

Perhaps he feels the hype has already hindered him? Maybe he wants to just let him quietly recover and not make a big deal. Do you know what he tells Lamela in private? Does it matter what he comes out and tells the media?
  17. S

    Lamela

Tim has talked up Lamela. He hasnt been fit and available for him to play. The anti-Sherwood sentiment is just embarrassing from some of the posters on here.

    The boy not so special...

Andy Turner? At the time youngest premier league scorer aged 17. Disappeared without trace.
  19. S

    Jan Vertonghen

By that token any decent player not at a champ league should just give up and have a strop? The great players stand out regardless. Mentality is just as important as technical attributes. However I think we're all probably reading a bit too much into his body language, I think he's just in...

Should our squad be built more on youth players?

OP starts a good thread discussing the merits of youth team but like almost every thread on this site gets swamped with posts about Sherwood being useless. So boring. If anything Sherwood has been brave with youth selection and constantly talks up bringing youth through.
