Redknapp has said he has targeted three players who will cost in his eyes around £30m. He has also said he needs to sell to buy (although I am not certain about this, could just be a tactic to make players cheaper for us?). Anyway the question arises who do we sell to make this money.

Personally I don't want anyone to leave but if this is the case how do you think we will make that money?

Bent-£10m-£12m says he wants regular action I feel we can not offer him that so feel he will leave. IMO deserves better. Villa and Sunderland will prob. be in the running.

Bentley-£10-12m again deserves better would keep him but for his england ambitions should be playing regularly. potential suitors will be Man city and maybe a team like Athletico madrid in Europe

others

Rocha-100k-400k surely someone will buy him

Gilberto-200k-500k ex Brazil international. Someone must want him

KPB-£2m-£3m prob back in Germany

GDS/Huddlestone-£5m-£8m I hate doing this but it could be needed. prob a variety of suitors Everton for hudd. Somewhere in Spain for GDS

this should equate to somewhere between £27.3m-£35.9m which should suffice. who do you think we should sell?

You're assuming that Levy hasn't already set funds aside for transfers?

I've no doubt Levy won't be as thrifty on opening the purse as he has been in recent seasons, and we'll no doubt have to do some selling to fund some purchases, but I can't see the chairman sending Harry into a transfer window empty-pocketed.

I'd be very surprised if Harry did'nt have 15 - 20 million left to spend, so realistically he'd only have to find 10 million IMO

If you read what I wrote I did say I found it unlikely that we do need to raise the full £30m

COYS hopefully wont have to sell gio or hudd!

bent 10 million, bentley 10 mil, keano 10mil, zokora 10 mil, hutton 5mil, jenas 10mil,
dawson 10mil,

more cash for the kitty! 65 mils + chairman kitty bonus (30 mil?)

from the relegateds we can look at the likes of owen, martins, viduka, gutierrez, tuncay
from pompey we can think about distin, krancjar, kaboul, jonsson
from fulham, hangeland, zamora
two central mids in the mould of wilson from the euro leagues probably
a couple of skillful target men would be nice

*most of the players for sale will be looking for and deserving first team footy elsewhere, and a couple are just not suitable for spurs, especially given the quality we should be looking to bring in over the summer

special note, it wasnt the overhaul that hurt us at the start of the season, it was the needless sale of key players like malbranque and the unfortunate way our foward line was not replaced adequately with sufficent quality, attributes and prem experience.

edit: +joe cole.. obv we have to sign joe cole, regardless of any current injury situ:)

Bent £10m
Chimbonda £2m
KPB £2m
Rocha £1m
Gilberto Free

= £15m

If Levy hasn't budgetted a transfer fund of a good £20m in addition I'd be very surprised.

I actually agree with the c.£30m on 3 players. I'd like to see it apportioned £14m each on a DM and #9 and £2m on a LB.

Anyone who thinks the reverse is intoxicated with the idea of Spurs being a moneybags club, one that defies the laws of economics by spending 10s of millions more than they receive in income, without a rich owner.

You must have been pretty surprised last summer then, when Spurs had a net income on transfers of over 10m. That's been more than balanced out by the near 50m outlay in January.

Spurs aren't in the business of lashing out 20m net every season. January's spending has pretty much killed any net spending next season.

i'd say we need to sell, not to neccassrily to raise the transfer fee, but more to free up money on the payroll.

Don't think our wages are that high compared to other prem teams. Saying we have to sell first sounds like a typical Harry tactic to stop the team we're buying from demanding way over the odds.

That wasn't intended. The Sunderland clearance and Berbs and Keane weren't done to fund transfers.

There's always a large transfer fund built into our budget. The £45m spent in January was probably exactly what was unexpectedly left over from the summer. Remember as a club we still turn profit after transfers on current level of expenditure (which is the 3rd or 4th highest in EPL history - I'm not sure how we compare with Liverpool at the moment but it is close).

Didn't we spend £40m net the summer before - on Bent, Bale, KPB and Kaboul?

Yes, let's sell half our first team so we have near £100m to spend then buy Bobby Zamora... :duh:
