TOTTENHAM were reeling last night after being told Liverpool are willing to shell out £50million for Carlos Tevez.
The Spurs board sanctioned an £18m move for the Argie striker, whose loan at Manchester United ends this summer.

But they were blown away when the Tevez camp revealed Liverpool are ready to offer the £26m asking fee AND a staggering £160,000-a-week three-year deal — worth £8.3m-a-year.

United insist they still want to cut a deal with Tevez, who is loaned to them by his owner Kia Joorabchian.

Although they are refusing to pay Joorabchian’s current asking price, United would be sickened if he switched to bitter rivals Liverpool — a move which would also infuriate Old Trafford fans.

But unsettled striker Tevez, 25, revealed in SunSport last week that he would join Liverpool if they made a bid.

A source close to the deal told SunSport: “It seems amazing that Liverpool have the money to do this when you consider their owners are looking for funds.

“But Spurs were told that Liverpool were going to get the deal done and that Tevez was very happy about it.”

Tevez’s Argentine pal Javier Mascherano moved to Liverpool after a Joorabchian deal.

From the sun so it could be absolute horse radish but i can believe we would bid up to18 million for him

...yeah i'm sure pool have 50 million in their pockets

have doubts that we'd bid for tevez unless keane or defoe were leaving this summer, harry has never really favored two midgets up front if he could help it, much less three.

If Tevez comes to Spurs, I will personally write to Arsene Wenger and offer to suck his cock for every week of next season.....

Well thank f*** for that. Overrated and not the player we need.

I don't think he's overrated, overpriced maybe (and i don't like this 3rd party ownership thing) but if Bent was 16 million then Tevez is a bargin IMHO

If there was a chance to get Tevez I would expect Harry to give it a go. I doubt whether we can satisfy his wage demands (though i doubt that they're anywhere near £160,000) but it would be worth a shot. Unfortunately we'd still need to sign a big centre forward, as Tevez doesn't do the job. What he does offer is pace, brute force, ridiculous passion and a workrate that frankly makes even Keane look lazy.

He is a born winner who will take the game to the opposition no matter what and these are the types of players we need more of in my opinion. He's at the perfect age, settled in the premiership, and he'll still have major resale value in a couple of seasons if we don't progress and he wants to move on. Yes he would shove both Keane and Defoe back on the bench, as we'd need to sign a big man to play with him, but if the opportunity is genuinely there to upgrade on your first team then you go for it. Whether we do have a genuine opportunity is up for debate, I just can't believe there are people saying he's overrated, wouldn't improve us etc. He would. A lot.

Now for a bit of semi-drunk dream team action:

Lennon Palacios Barry Modric
Gomez Tevez

In: Tevez 25m, Gomez 25m, Barry 12m - £62m
Out: Bentley 12m, Bent 12m, Pav 12m, KPB 2m, Chimbo 2m, Thud 8m - £48m

Ah, i'll look back on that when we've signed Crouch and Downing....

Stuns Spurs as we weren't looking to sign him and seeing this made-up-bollocks left us with our jaws on our chests.

It's going to get sillier than this, folks. A lot sillier.

Obvisously talk fuelled by Kia, he's using us and Liverpool to try and squeeze more dough out of Utd.

Don't think we have a chance to capture Tevez with all the clubs chasing him. Think Harry is planning to buy players with PL experience, so Crouch, Santa Cruz and Downing is probably likeley. I'd like us to sign Pandev, Dzeko and Bastos in stead, but I don't think Harry wants players who needs time to adjust... As always looking forward to silly season, but I don't think there will be many signings I'll like. Semidrunk dreamsignings we are somewhat linked to: Tevez, Pandev, Barry, Bassong and Dzeko!
