I know we would never end up with Tevez, but if we did, surely we’d have to get rid of Robbie Keane? I can’t see us playing Keane, Defoe, Modric and Tevez. Even if you balance them one on top of another you’d only reach Peter Crouch’s bollocks.

Nothing bores me more at the moment than the 'Carlos Tevez affair' and all its tedious chapters. He isn't worth it.

I think Tevez is quality - I think you'd find it hard to find a player who works as hard on the pitch as Tevez. However, what sickens me in all this is another reason to really dislike football agents. Kia Ora is going to get a huge lump of whatever fee is agreed and it's probably the only reason that I wouldn't like us to buy him.

Maybe, but he would be pretty well suited to Kuyt's position. He is similar to him, just with a more ball skills and a bit more pace.

True plus Kuyt is best through the centre. I just can't see him in a Liverpool shirt.

This Joorabchian bollocks is an absolute joke. I still don't understand how it's legal now but wasn't for the spammers. He's controlled by a third party, which is surely against the rules....?!

what I dont get is why Man U did not have to pay in full for a circa £30m asset for 2 whole years. Loans like this from a 3rd party or a club make a mockery of the game.

Just did some reading on Kia Ora. He seems quite the wheeler and dealer. Still wanted over money laundering apparently.

The only club crazy enough to actually pay that much for him is Real Madrid, surely.

Don't tell me - you know this 16-year-old lad, and he's the best young footballer you've ever seen.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TRANSFERS

What's more, you're just the person to steer him through his sporting career - you once ran a five-a-side team at the local sports centre, you're more than handy with a mobile phone and you own at least three ties.
The answer is clear: it's time to sack the old job and become a licensed football agent.
How do you make the dream a reality? It's not as hard as you think.
First, go to the Football Association's website at www.thefa.com, click through to the 'rules and regulations' section and go from there to 'players' agents'.
Here you will find a simple application form which covers just two sides of a piece of A4 paper.
You can also access a copy of Fifa's latest regulations on agents and a copy of a basic agent-player contract that you can use - if licensed - to officially sign up your first talent.
The FA say that the application process is currently on hold while they conduct a review - but this is how it works at the moment.
You will be asked to sit an exam designed to test your knowledge of Fifa and FA rules, so it's probably an idea to find copies of the handbooks and familiarise yourself with the contents.
The exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions, 15 on international regulations and five on national rules.
Acording to current Fifa regulations, marking takes place immediately after the exam, so you'll know if you've passed straight away.
If it's all gone wrong, you can reapply immediately and have another go - but if you fail again, you will have to wait a year until your next attempt.
Should you pass, you need to provide proof that you do not have a criminal record.
This shouldn't be a problem - your local police station is obliged to provide such verification under the 'subject access' section of the Data Protection Act.
But the process could take up to 40 days, so don't splash out on that new suit and silver-blue BMW 7 Series quite yet.
The final step is to get yourself professional indemnity insurance cover. This covers you against claims of compensation from a player, club or agent if you break Fifa regulations. In the old days you would have had to stump up a £50,000 bond to Fifa - but not any more.
Right - all you need to do now is sign the Fifa code of conduct, and you're off.
Your licence will be sent to you by the FA, allowing you to get stuck in on a worldwide basis with immediate effect.
As section four of article 10 of the Fifa regulations so snappily puts it: "As soon as the players' agent has received his licence from the national association, he will be entitled to use the following designation in business relations after his name: 'players' agent licensed by (country) national association'."
Get that lad under contract before someone else does. The longest you can sign him up for is two years, but that can be renewed again and again if both parties agree.
Work out how much you will charge for your services - either a lump sum each year or a specified cut of the player's annual basic gross salary.
Then make copies of the contract, give one to the player and three to the FA.
You're in business!

I think Tevez is very good but the whole story from his initial signing through Sheff Utd to this is boring. Few players are worth the trouble and I think maybe that is what is holding United back as well as the dodgy dealings. He does both work hard and offer flair and end product but he is not a bang on starter this season or last, has not been as good as Berba for me and I am not sure there are not other players out there that clubs can sign without all this baggage and financial uncertainty.

I feel his hard work has added some disproportionate 'value' which is out of whack with his true worth, if that makes sense.

If Liverpool are offering £26m + £160kpw I guess that sets a minimum negotiating level for Utd ensuring they don't get hm on the cheap which means Liverpool may have a clearer path to the player they do want maybe.

 I can shave everywhere if it will attract him more.

I have to say you've ruined my opinion of you now that i know you're not already shaved all over

As for this whole Tevez thing. I just can't see why Liverpool would want him the badly. There are some key areas of their team that they need to improve, but Tevez doesn't fit any of those areas at all. Still good news is that if they spend £26m on him they won't be sniffing round any of our lot.

Plus interest, plus in(de)flation, plus signing on fee, etc.

If you're going to be pedantic, do it properly :p

:shrug:plus interest and plus inflation?

There would not be a cost of interest unless less the buy was financed by a loan, and price inflation would not not be an additional cost to the transfer. the only argument there would be that inflation has lowered or increased the 'value' of the purchase in x years time.

Yeh could be, assuming there are no pre existing agreements between Utd and Tevez's owner (makes him sound like a dog LOL!), i would imagine that it will go down to the highest bidder in the end, although i would think that highest bidder would have to be a CL team in order for Tevez to agree to it.

FFS, it's the Sun. There's as much point (and more fun) in discussing this week's Page 3 girls' bazoomas.

Regardless I still think we'd have made an enquiry, we'd be foolish not to.
