Fully agreed with Jose and the consensus in this thread.

And as has been pointed out in the Race for the Top 10 thread, a good run in the Europa could be worth up to £40m to the club. Not to be sneezed at - especially given the current global outlook.

Only reason I wanted to avoid Europa is because this league has a history of favoring good sides without European games to mount a title challenge. It’s apparent that we will be mounting no such challenge next year so bring it on in that case.

It definitely can't go to 8th now. If the FA Cup winners finish in the Top 6, then 5th and 6th will go into the Europa Group Stage, and 7th will go into the 2nd Qualifying Round. If they don't, then they'll go into the Group Stage alongside 5th, and 6th will go into qualifying.
Pretty sure if the winners of the FA Cup are already in Europe, then the FA Cup runners up get the European spot?

That stopped several years back. Hence e.g. Watford did not play Europe after finishing as runners-up last season

The Carabao Cup Europa spot now goes to 6th because of City
If anyone but Arsenal win the FA Cup that spot goes down to 7th

At least that's my understanding.
